Funding Question Dorset

Hi Can anyone help?

A family member is interested in having surgery but is not in a position to self fund.

We live in Dorset and when he asked GP was told it would be a five year wait. Is this normal?

He has other comorbidies and is over 24 stones. Can anyone advise. He is very disappointed.

Lisa.

I would go to another GP, the whole process may well take a long time, but I have not heard of anyone waiting that long. Perhaps he should ask to be refereed anyway, nothing to loose. Good luck x

I had a very anti op GP in Bournemouth, i rang the PCT and explained what had been said and they sorted the GP out and sent them the forms, 2 weeks later i had my funding, so no 5 years is not normal !!!

I saw my GP , had funding a few weeks later , consultant appointment a month or so later , awaiting op date , should be March / April ..... that's Bournemouth & Poole pct , it does depend where in Dorset you are xx
( see dates below )
