Hi Everyone!
I went to see my GP the other day and she agreed to refer me for weight loss surgery.
I am not sure how long it is going to take before i see somebody. We asked if we could be referred privately to hurry things up, and then get back into the NHS, but unfortunately, they only see people on the NHS. So i am not sure how long it is going to take before i see someone.
What happens on the appointment?? How did you convince them that you met the criteria and where suitable?? I think i meet the critera- morbidly obese, problems walking, short of breath, pains, etc. I have a connective tissue disorder and need to keep my muscles strong- so loosing weight will help put less strain and pressure on my joints and i want to be healthier - i am 21, so i think if i get my weight problem sorted out now, it will help me later in life.
I have been doing a lot of googling on the net and been reading about gastric banding and gastric bypass.
Which has the biggest success in the long run? From what i gather, the bypass is a more complicated, riskier operation- but does it have better results?? or not?? What is the difference in the body sensations that you experience after the operation?? When you eat does it make you feel full up?? How much weight do you loose and how quickly??? And has anyone been able to maintain their weight loss??
I am sorry if i am asking too many questions, i am just wondering which operation is the best one to go for?! Do we get any choice anyway?!
Anyway, it would rock to hear from people who have had the operations done/in the process/etc.!!
Thank you for reading (if you have got this far!!)
