I think its normally after you have had the ok from the surgeon at ur 6 week check up. I am sure someone else will be along to confirm this ( or not) x
hey xx i was told you shouldnt drive for the first 2 weeks, and then you can drive once you are comfortable perfoming an emergency stop.
i personally had a go at driving around 2.5 weeks after surgery, its fine if you are goin short distances but i found i was very tierd and stuggling to concentrate so id wait at least 3 weeks. im 4.5 weeks post op now and having no probs with driving, im off to derby tomoz (about an hours drive) to go shopping with a friend
It seems that everyone gets different information. I had keyhole bypass and I was told not to drive home from the hospital but ok to drive the following day, which I did. My car is automatic and I haven't had any driving issues.
Keyhole as soon as you feel up to it, I drive at about 10days post op went shopping with hubby & he drive back as I was knackered. Gradually built up from there.
Was told if open surgery was needed I would have to wait at least 6 wks as more invasive surgery much like any other major surgery where muscles etc need to heal.
