Getting frustrated at the amount I can eat.

Ok ok ok, I know I shouldn't moan about the amount I can eat and that restriction is a good thing.....

But I'm really beginning to loose interest in even preparing food now because I barely touch it.

This morning I decided on toast for breakfast. In goes one slice of wholemeal bread, out pops the toast. I remove the crusts and used low fat spead. I have managed a quarter piece plus one bite out of the next quarter. Remember I'd already cut the crusts off so those quarters are TINY!

I now feel stuffed!

My full feeling feels like I have a tablet stuck in my throat, I know I'm full then.

I have pushed myself to double check that is my full feeling, and vomited, so I know that is my full feeling!

I really can't be arsed to cook anymore with the amount I'm eating!

Dont really know what to say to you Lucy - I certainly have quite a 'strict' restriction but not sure it is quite as bad as yours. I do know that sometimes I can eat more depending on what it is - but sometimes barely a spoonful and I feel the restriction.

I ate two prawns on Sat night out of an Indian meal (took me an hour to eat them) then on Sunday (I took home the remains) just one made me sick! Now not sure if I will ever fancy a prawn again . . .

The cooking thing is wierd - I love cooking and am actually enjoying cooking more than I did before (because I know I am not going to over indulge and that makes me happy). I am really enjoying cooking nice meals for the rest of the family and just having a couple of spoonfuls for myself.

It does sound as though your restriction is quite seriously limiting though. Have you tried something like cottage cheese and pineapple to see how much you could manage without feeling sick (it is quite soft and goes down easily but is fairly filling). I can eat about a third of a pot of that in one go - the most I can eat of anything I think. I still cant eat a whole weetabix.

I have bought some cottage cheese but hated it pre-op, I've not been brave enough to try it post op yet!

Weetabix I can manage about a quarter, and thats really sloppy too!

I'm still cooking for the family, I love cooking really, it's just so frustrating when I so enjoy the first mouthful, then can only manage one or 2 more!

I had prawns on Sunday, a Tesco Prawn sandwich! I gave one of the sandwiches to my son, and ate half the other, minus the crusts, I was mega stuffed, ate too much!

I had about two 3rd's of the last quarter for tea (minus the crusts!).

Hi Lucy,

Hope you can get ahead with this Lucy... it's such a lot of trial and error early on... my family are going to have to fend for themselves more, I've already told them... it's not easy when you feel you can't eat... hope you soon feel better Lucy.

Love and hugs xxx

I really feel for you Lucy.

I think I don't have enough restriction. Even hubby is surprised at what size portion I can eat before I feel full. I can now eat a whole weetabix.

But I woud rather by this way than having the severe restriction you have and I do understand why you would lose all interest in food.

Have you spoken to your bariatric nurse or dietician?

I'm like Karen & am amazed by what I can eat! I've just had 2 slices of wholemeal bread & a small tin of coronation tuna!!

Definately get it checked out I was only like that for my first week or two!

Lucy it's early days, I'm 10 months post op and can't do a full slice of toast, I have found that proteins and vegetables are far more easier to eat than carbs, although porridge and redybreak are easier than bread, do u think you might be able to try one of those for breakfast? xxx
