To all fellow banders how many mouthfuls can you eat to feeling full?

I know it can and will vary to each person, just a rough amount will do.

My restriction is good on a good day but slack on bad days

depends on the type of food eaten dry foods no gravy sauces or mayo then 5-6, any wet foods then bobs ya uncle and it will all drop through the band, its a learning curve, but the dryer foods then you will need less to eat to feel restriction x

I go for drier foods too, I only have a teeny tiny bit of gravey on the rare occasions, mayo i dont like lol

Thanks for the reply hun x

Even tho Im pre-op and a bypass not a band I thought Id count how many mouthfuls it took for me to be full.........well, Im at 458528854823423923958343294 and Im still a bit peckish :D Me thinks I need this op FAST!!

:D you never fail to make me giggle nuttychic :D

I think the rules are the same or similar for banders and bypassers Emma..

Try to keep it not too wet (dotty chic i am watching you lol), go for the protein and the veg before you hit the carbs...

And don't have as many mouthfuls as Dotty lol xx

I don't think it should be guided by mouthfuls....thats weird...LOL

Basically my dietician told me that the protein you have shoud be no bigger than your own clenched fist (not including wrist) so that would be one chicken thigh kind of size, your vegetable portion should fit in the palm of your cupped hand, and a if you can fit carbs in only ever have something similar to a boiled egg in size.

Difficult to say in mouthfuls but I am generally eating my dinner on a side plate now and that is plenty.

Tonight for example I have had three thin slices of very crispy smoked bacon, a tbsp of h/m coleslaw, one new potato, a couple of lettuce leafs and a spring onion. I dont feel full to the brim but I am satisfied although I do fancy some chocolate!

We went to a BBQ yesterday and I ate a spoonful of potato salad, spoonful of coleslaw, 1/4 small chicken fillet and half a sausage. I then managed about 2 tbsp of eaton mess for pud and several glasses of Pimms later on! I was pretty stuffed to say the least.

I eat all my meals from a childs plastic tea plate now.

For a roast dinner say, I can usually manage half a slice of chicken breast, 1 v small potato, some veggies (if they are soft enough) and maybe a mouthful or so of pud.Can only do this with some gravy to help, otherwise i really do find it difficult not to feel uncomfortable and sick afterwards.

The band is still a major learning curve for me, and I STILL have days where i forget to chew (was always my problem before band, never chewed properly) and of course I will then be sick. I find that I can stomach small amounts of almost anything- absolutely cannot eat bread- even toasted is no good.

I would also say that on different days I can manage more or less aswell, its a very odd thing!
