hi, i think they should start the bmi from 40' as it gives people a better chance but if they drop it too low im sure they will run out of funding really quick?
i suppose theres going to be a big shake up all over the country in all the hospitals.

thanks bigbeefybuilder

Iv not heard anything about this and iv googled it and nothing comes up, where did you hear about it?

hi, i heard this from a consultant at barnsley hospital last week but didn't know much as they said it was going to change for the better.

I am not from England (i am from Scotland ) but PCT's are being phased out and being replaced by Clinical Commissioning Groups as of this month
http://www.nhs.uk/NHSEngland/thenhs/about/Pages/authoritiesandtrusts.aspx

I found this in a recent search when I was trying to suss out if these changes affect us north if the border... I don't think they do but I may be wrong.
This is a draft doc from the Clinical Commissioning Policy: Complex And Specialised Obesity Surgery ....so things may well be different/ changed
https://www.engage.commissioningboa.../ssc-area-a/supporting_documents/a5policy.pdf

I hope this helps explain the changes.

This has to be good news! Does anyone know if there is a similar move to make guideleines on reconstructive surgery after weight loss national aswell. And if so-has anyone seen them??
xx

i asked this aswell, my pct does the national nice guildlines which are bmi under 25 and has held that for 2 years and the loose skin has to hang lower than the pubic bone and mut be causing a problem that is being dealt with by a dotor hope this helps

Doesn't it just make so much more sense, just to make the guidelines the same for every PCT? I'm glad they are changing, it's about time. I just hope they are changing in Wales too, as its incredibly difficult to get NHS funding for bariatric surgery there.

im glad its changing too, i had 4 long years to fight to get my funding
