Title says it all really!!!

Im 2 week post op and my provider has told me to blend all my food to apple sauce/yoghurt consistency for 4 weeks, im only half way through and totally had enough :( i crave to eat something normal.

Is 4 weeks along time?? I see others who dont have to do it for this long.

Ugh It is a really difficult part!!! It's usually a good idea to do as they say though but I know I was feeling fed up at the same stage too.
I think you could possibly try some soft mash and cheese maybe with small lumps...or lumps that are easy to break down...make sure what you eat is very easy to break down to liquid in your mouth before swallowing ...eat off a tea spoon initially..and maybe some mince in gravy towards the end of this week? See what it feels like but try not to jump ahead too much xxx

Mmm, it seems like different hospitals say different things. Iam 4 weeks post op. I did 2 weeks of soup etc, then 2 weeks of soft food. Anything that can be mashed with a fork. Like over cooked veg, mince, etc. I made sure I chewed everything really well and had no problems. As I said, iam now week 4 and have moved on to normal food, which is great.
Hang in there and do what you feel is right. x

aww Leanne i hated this stage with a passion!! I was so excited to move onto pureed from clear liquids, but once there it was horrible!

Cant advise but i feel your pain lol

x

I didnt do liquid stage started on pureed went onto mashed about week 3.Felt better and started regular bowel movements.Take it easy though,I recommend mashed pots, carrot, caulie, plaice, sole, egg, cheese in mash, tin salmon mashed, soup, all soft food that you can chew and easily digest.Stop before you are full, you will get it eventually.Start with two tablespoons and build up.Take it slow even if its cold!Best of luck.Maz x

hi honey i have to do puree apple sauce stage for 4 to 6 weeks, we went straight onto it not liquid stage for us. i am going to have some corned beef and potato and gravy tomorrow never been so excited xxxxx

I was 4 weeks liquids then 4 weeks mushies after my op. After each fill it is back to 2 weeks liquid then 2 weeks mushies. I had my second fill last Friday and I admit I am struggling with liquids and not looking forward to the mushies either so feel your pain! Hang on in there - it is all worth it in the end.

I totally get how you're feeling, but I honestly do think it's best to follow your provider's guide-lines.
I've had all sorts of trouble with my bypass even though I stuck to all the rules pretty strictly. But at least I know my pouch is in good nick - I had a gastroscopy which showed it!
I hate to think what might have happened if I'd moved on too fast.
Puree sucks though, I agree. I mainly had soup.

I know where you are coming from and at the time it feels like you'll be on pureed forever, its only another couple of weeks and it will give your band chance to settle and establish itself.

I know it doesn't help now but it will really feel like a short time when you are back on normal food. Do as your provider recommends, they want your band to last for you.

Hi Leanne
I had to do two weeks of fluids which was awful. Just started today on mushy stage for two weeks (anything that can be squashed on the back of a fork). I wish all providers sang from the same song sheet as it can be so confusing! ;) xx

Hi ladies,

Im hanging on in there, i know it will be worth it. I think pre op diet was easy compared to this...lol! :D

I wish all providers sang from same song sheet, i didnt have to do fluid only stage just stright on puree.

Im trying lots of diff stuff for variety but something blended just dont taste nice.
Cant beat lean corned beef blended with mashed potatoes....yummy!!!

Thanks everyone xxx

hi,

i know its really hard the first few weeks, but please try and stick with it.
it will be for the best in the long run,and you will be better for it.

good luck x

I've not tried corned beef yet Leanne but always love it pre op... and I agree it's by no means an easy option to have wls... thinking of you and it's early days Angel... rest, relax and recover.

Love and hugs xxx

Im dreading this stage after my operation. Ive got to do it for 4 weeks!
Ill just keep telling myself, that the weight will drop off if all im having is fluids and my stomach will heal brilliantly.

Tam
