Hiya

Had my appointment today at the Salford Royal, saw the physchatrist and she was lovely, found it hard talking about few issues, and then had a meeting out the weight loss surgery, band, bypass, saw the doctor and he suggested a By pass would suit me better, and am booked in for sleep apea test on 20th which then i will go on the list, want to know if have sleep apea as will go on high dependency ward if so, am just worried about the thing called "dumping" only cos i have a mega phobia of being sick, think have got my self in a bit of a tizz as do so much want to have it done just feel scared by the idea of it today, can you not eat any surgar, or is it when you eat loads. Thanks and sorry for going on xx

I think the limit is below 5% / 100grams from the blurb I ot yesterday. I was also told not to rely on dumping to teach me through adversion therapy as this doesn't always happen nor does the suppressed appetite to help us come to terms with the new way of life. However I think for me whether it happens or not the thought it possibly could is enough. Good luck for a swift date and a positive result in the apnea test if it gets you there quicker. At least it should be cured post-op.

hi
not everyone gets dumping to the full extent.. i get it mild and its enough to tell me to stop!!!

i can eat a fair amout before i get warning signs... tho thats not a good thing... as it means i have already eaten it!

i get a kinda dumping if i eat things like ice cream..

i have never had a full on dump... but do have the hot flush, shaky, feel sick syndrome...
i never touched anything sweet for 2 yrs after i had my bypass... just had natural sweet stuff like fruits..i wish i never tasted them again to be honest!!
