Well I have been on the journey to London today for my first appointment.
Largely all the info we were told was stuff I already knew from my research, but there were some good bits. It helped my husband hear from people that had already had the op and a comparison of the risk factors to other types of operation.
So here goes the next wait, I should get the next appointments in about 6 to 8 weeks. Exciting and scary at the sametime.

Congratulations on your first appointment, now it all starts, exciting is'nt it!
I have had my first appt, now Im waiting for my 2nd one, It was to have been quite soon but got cancelled, I have put a post up about what happened, its all good now.
It will be nice to chat with you seeing we are at the same stage almost. what surgery would you like?
Im hoping for the Gastric Bypass, It was the band at first but the more research I have done I feel the bypass is for me, plus I already have a surgical implant in me and don't want another.
Regards
xx

hey :)
Im most likely going for the bypass, I dont think a band would work for me and my BMI is over 60 so its not as ideal. I think Im going to go for the bypass, but have also been thinking about the sleeve.

Hi Zns wat hospital are u under xxx

Hi Zns and welcome to the madhouse, oops i mean mini's... Whoo hoo one appointment down and only a 6-8 week wait for the next. Lucky you, us going to Walsall Manor have a 4 month wait for 2nd appt's...

Time will fly by so quickly you will wonder where its gone. A friend of mine had the sleeve around February and has so far lost just over 5 stone. I believe (shoot me down if i'm wrong someone) that later down the line if the weight loss isn't sufficient for her she can continue and have a full bypass........

Good luck with your journey and don't be a stranger xx

congrats 6/8 weeks is nothing and will fly :D

If you see this again Glenville can I ask when in the process did you get your date? Goodluck

Hi zns

My journey started with a group presentation in May/June 2008. Had multi-disciplinary meetings in july/august and was then offered op for November 2008. Unfortunately I had a heart operation the day before scheduled rny and wls has had to be delayed for 12 months.

Good things come to those who wait..:)

Thank you! 6-8 weeks still seems like ages at the moment though, but Im not going to dwell on it! x

Hi ZNS

6 - 8 weeks is not very long to wait...but you could do what I did and get a cancellation...I brought mine down by 2 months...I have my one - 2 - one on Friday.

It don't hurt to try.

Good luck

(((hugs)))
