Hi all,

Looking for some advice...

I am really worried that I am going to loose my hair, I already shed quite alot and I think thinning, whats happens after surgery, can more hair loss be avoided???
Also I do get thirsty, especially in the hot weather, can we drink high volumes??

Hi, I suffered with hairloss, but it only lasted a few weeks and wasn't noticable (only to me), however I have thin hair and I'm prone to losing it. I've started taking a good vitamin/mineral tablet to help.

As for the water, I can drink normal amounts. I have a drink about 10 mins before eating, and then wait 30 mins after food, but other than that it's the same as pre op. Hope this helps xx

Hello tianna70,

so sorry to hear u are having this worry , i have heard that this can happen , and as sarah said , a supplement wont hurt, i know holland and barratt do a skin, hair, nails one ,which works wonders (i have not had surgery yet, but my medication causes skin and hair problems).
try not to worry , it will pass . all the best xxx

Hi Tianna x I think selenium supplements and the shampoo by Elvive for men (thinning hair one) have been used to good effect to help with hair loss.
It is temporary in most people though and is one of the drawbacks of rapid weight loss.
Even if you were not having surgery, if anyone loses weight rapidly, there can be some temporary hair thinning.

Maybe a dermatologist or tricologist (wow my spelling is bad today!) via the GP can also help

I have a quite a full band and I can't down a pint in one but no problems drinking enough in the hot weather, smaller mouthfuls just more often. Don't worry about that x

I concur with all that's been written thus far.

May I also make the suggestion of trying Biotin ... can be bought from Holland and Barrett.

i have the hair loss pretty bad at the moment shower is blocked up every time i am in there :( good job i have such thick hair. don't have any problem with thirst i am able to drink 2L of water a day plus teas i just sip sip sip throughout the day although i must admit this is my routine through the week while in work on the weekend my fluid intake is awful i am lucky to get 1L in lol. I am however feeling really tired all the time even when i wake up after a nights sleep i still feel tired think its a combination of low cals, 2 year old who wakes at 5.30 am every day without fail and working 8-6pm everyday have just switched multivitamins to centrum to see if that helps!!! i am defo coming back as a man:D
