My surgery is scheduled for Jan 12th 2012.
I am terified that something goes wrong, my daughter will turn 3 Jan 13th.

Welcome Char :) what surgery are you having? Everyone feels this way just prior to their op & it is natural to worry about your little daughter .. but it is probably for her that you want this op in the first place, so you can be here longer & do more with her ... you will get as much support as you need on her, sweetie xxx :):)

wellcome to this forum charchar,
i have not had my surgery yet hopefully it will be soon
but i will not lie to you i used to be scared about something going wrong to.

but now i am part of this forum and post on it and listen and chat to other people my mind is at ease and i cannot wait for my surgery date.
so what i am saying is keep in touch post the things that are worrying you,
cos there is always someone who will know were you are comming from and it just helps to know that there are loads and loads of people who have been through surgery
and post on this site and they are happy looseing weight and nothing bad has happened to them.xxxxxx

Welcome Char,
We are all scared going into surgery hun, im terrifide and this is op 5 and i will still shake on the day but it is going to make life so much better xxxx

Welcome to the site Char. (that's my sisters name, Charmaine)
Everyone is nervous at some point, but afterwards almost everyone will tell you, that they wished they'd had it done years ago. Be glad instead that you will be able to participate in your daughters life so much more when you are slim, I missed out on doing so much with my kids when they were growing up. Whenever they were doing something physical I was looking after the coats and bags.
This really will be the best in the long term.

O wow, I didn't expect So many responses. My name is Charlotte I live in Ceres Ca, and I am having RnY.
I already have a date to go to a support group that the hospital does.
You know that feeling like "I SHOULD BE ABLE TO DO THIS WITHOUT SURGERY " I just get So mad at myself, for failing time and time again.
And if I try just one more time I will be able to keep it off. But who am kidding.
My daughter is my world, and I want to be here as long as I can for her.
Thank you guys for the support.

You're welcome Charlotte, that's what we're here for. I thought that right up to the last minute, but the reality is, it's never going to come off and stay off for most of us. Most of us are very successful dieters too. Just not successful at the maintenance part. Good luck love. xx

Char,

I'm sure if you wanted to be able to enjoy your daughter's 3rd birthday while not drowsy and weak post-operation, you could ask the hospital for an alternative date a few days or a week later?

For me I am expecting a surgery date late Feb/early March.... but have in the back of my head my Dad's 80th birthday is 25 March 2012. If I am offered a date too close to that I will ask for an later date myself, so that I can still be "fat and happy" (well, you know, in my pre-op 300 lb state rather than quite weak from just having had a major operation).

Just a thought. :)

Nothing on this planet would have made me change my date for a later one, I had waited 2 years.
Have your daughters birthday a few days early, she is only 3, she will never know. x

I agree, there's no way on this earth I would have changed my date either, yr daughter will have many more birthdays and u will b around to enjoy them because of this op, like it has been suggested a couple days early for birthday celebrations am sure wouldn't cause any upset xx

Hi Charlotte and welcome. What you are feeling is absolutely normal and many surgeons would be worried if you didn't feel this way. Congrats on your date and like the others have said, celebrate a few days earlier with her, she just wont know.

Sharon, if you have your op end of Feb beginning of March and have no complications, you will be feeling brilliant by March 25th. I feel like I could run a marathon and have never been happier.

Love Kate x
