Hi everyone,
After my second appeal went before the Individual Funding Panel last Wednesday, my letter arrived today. It's not a definite yes or no.
My appeal was very indepth and I basically completed the form on behalf of the GP (I am a GP secretary) so I knew there was no way he could be bothered putting all the info in it I needed. Luckily this particular doc is a good guy and thankfully signed the form off for me. (i only told the truth but I wanted as much of it in the form as possible).
Anyway, apart from all the guff explaining why it had been refused so far and so on, they also felt that I had not shown enough committment to sustained the wight loss they required to prove I had changed my eating habits and want me to undergo another session of weight management and to lose an agreed amount of weight and keep it off for 6 months to prove that I am committed. Then they said they would reassess my application for surgery.
I'm not sure if I am being given a genuine chance here or just being fobbed off - what do you think ? I suppose they could have just straight out refused me couldn't they ? Anyway, I am going to give it all I've got and see what happens next year.
