Hi. LadyLumps here. Real name Meg. Gloucestershire based.

A little about me and why I'm here: Age 31, living with partner and our wee dog. Been obese since Polly Pockets were cool (Polly Pockets unrelated to my weight, but gives you an idea of era). Usual diet failure stories and recovered from a nasty case of Binge Eating Disorder that has left me with even more of a weight problem.

FIRST ASSESSMENT TODAY, eek. NHS Gloucestershire, so off to Gloucester Hospital in ... oops, 20 minutes, better get a move on.

Bricking it, frankly. Using my nervous energy to sign up here in readiness for what I hope will become a very positive journey.

Would be lovely to come home to a few 'hi's! Hope you're all having a great day :)

Well, I'm back. The psychologist was lovely. It all sounds really positive. Naturally a lot of hoops to jump before even getting near surgery but I'm optimistic.

Anyone gone/going through Gloucestershire NHS? Would love to hear from you if so.

Hello ladylumps !

Just wanted to say hello welcome and good luck xx

All good but scary dietitians???

Hi again and thanks so much for your replies. Makes such a difference to be welcomed, so cheers :)

It went very well thanks. The lady I met with was so lovely. Unfortunately I was flustered when I arrived because of roadworks (despite leaving loads of extra time! ) so I think she didn't get to go through everything, and so my next appt will cover what should have been covered today.

So next comes a bit more assessment then getting a treatment plan, which will be the gateway to surgery hopefully.

One of their surgery criteria is for me to lose 5% of body weight in six months (I have sleep apnea otherwise it'd be 10%) although she said they are learning to be quite flexible with this if they can see someone really has their stuff together but hasn't quite lost the whole 5%.

5% sounds easy but then it always does. I guess I'll have their support, though.

A bit scared of dietitians.... anyone got any experience of them? As someone with an eating disorders background, I guess I'm a bit sensitive when it comes to people telling me what/when to eat. However, do they really do this any more or is it a more modern approach?
