I have joined this forum as a way to help me along with my weightloss journey. I am considering having a sleeve, and have a consultation tomorrow with a potential provider.

I'm still trying to find my way around this site, so I hope this post gets sent!

Hi there. I'm very new too but thought I'd say Hello. I had my sleeve done two weeks ago now and although I had a few anaesthetic problems (not a surprise) I haven't had any other complications. I'm so glad it's all done and am desperate to be fully healed so I can get on with my fabulous new life! Good luck with the consultation. Are you thinking of having it done in the UK like me? I had my sleeve done in L&D 14th Jan this year. No problems so far!

I am considering having it done in Belgium, and although the company are very reputable I can't find too much on the surgeon they use there, which is another reason I have joined here, to try to glean more info on him before I let him open me up!

Belgium and other countries seem quite harsh re surgeons saying who they are and what they do re weight loss and "cosmetic" surgery - it is seen as advertising, so therefore discouraged by law. I suppose the way around this is they use "agents". So don't be disheartened that the surgeon you are thinking of using doesn't have a web page and lots of adverts about, as if you were to look at other surgeons, you'd find the same for them too.

Although I had it done here in the UK, my surgeon is from Belgium (I understand they are the pioneers of WLS) but has settled in the Chanel Islands and works in Southampton half the week, every week. I don't know much about surgery abroad as my Hubs banned me from looking into it (big ol fusspot). Good luck with your research.
