Hello!!!

I am karen, single mum of three little terrors, and live in southampton.

I am desperately trying to get my Dr to assist me with Gastric Surgery, but been told that I need a BMI of 60!! My BMI is only 43 (first time I have been able to say ONLY 43!)

Would love some advice on what I could do to get the help I desperately need.

I`m afraid I can`t help with your query regarding your Drs appointment; but I do know that a lot of health authorities have cut back seriously on bariatric surgery and changed the rules on peoples BMI, making it harder for patients to fit in with their guidelines.

Very hard I know, unless you are seriously obese and have a much higher BMI as well as co-morbidities, then I think it may be harder to get surgery than you may have thought.

Hey just wanted to say welcome ....
I'm pretty close to you,
I also went to my doc and she basically told me no chance as the nhs were crumbling and I wasn't big enough.....
I was 15 stone 10 at the time and 5ft2 ....
I've been for a private consultation in Southampton last weekend and had one over the phone also and have decided if I'm going to do this it will have to be private, and probably in Belgium as finances are such a problem.
