Hi there, Im from newton le willows. -Very nervous about posting here, I was on minimins and didn't realise this was here! Well, im a little embarrassed at having to admit i might need some help with my weight. I'm scared

I'm nervous because i dont know exactly what a gastric band is, i dont know how permanent it is and im not sure if i will just put all the weight back on again. I joined here as i would love to talk about the procedures and share the journey should i go down the route.

Hi Ellie I had duodenal switch last november so i don't really know anything about bands, but i do know there are loads of people on here who have had them and been very successful xx good luck

hiya and welcome,im a new bander (was banded in may) and its the best thing ive ever done,5 stone lighter,my only regret is that i didnt get it done sooner,dont be embarrassed x

Hi Ellie,

I've been researching WLS for 7+ years and finally booked my consultation last month and have my band fitted this coming thursday.

I understand those feelings of being embarrassed, I even cringed when i had my consultation and he prodded and poked my stomach . . .but, I've been embarrassed about many things that I do or have done, and I am hoping that by making this lifestyle change, that it will enable me to be where I want to be. It is the tool which will enable me.

Hi Ellie, I'm about to have a bypass so don't really know much about bands, but as a previous poster said..there are umpteen success stories from ganders on here.
Don't ever feel embarrassed on here, we all have or have had the same problems with our weight and there's always a friendly ear to bend or sound advice to be had.
