HELP DESPERATELY NEEDED

Help please,
As my op triggered a severe anxiety condition I have been struggling. Although I dont have much of an appetite I try my best and always put protein first but I am terrified that I am not getting enough. I have been stuck on the scrambled egg/cheese/tuna stage as at the moment because I know that I can tolerate those foods. While I know what the ideal target is for protein I think I need to hear that I will survive if I dont manage that much every day. All of this leads to panic attacks and I suppose I am looking for some assurances. I also have to take 18 tablets a day. My husband has had to take time off work to look after me and I although I am due to see a consultant about the anxiety (I am already taking tablets for it)
Many thanks for listening
Jo

You will be fine if you don't hit your target protein intake every day
Just try to get in what you can
It was very rare that I hit my protein target and nearly 2 years out I'm still living and breathing

While you will be ok, insufficient protein often leads to muscle wastage post op. if possible supplement your diet with milky drinks, protein shakes, or extra protein snacks. Things will get better x

Hi

Whats the daily protein requirements of men and women, I don't think an actual amount is listed in any of my surgery literature.

Thanks

Paul

I was told 60g. I have no idea if I get that much in, I try to have protein at every meal and . There's nothing wrong with eggs cheese and tuna. REELAAXX. You're doing fine.

That was my thoughts too. You are doing well.

You are eating. And it involves healthy proteins. So nothing is fatal. You need to look at that you are tolerating a lot more than some people.

So try to relax into this journey :) and know its easier said than done. But you can do this, because you ARE doing it (((hugs))) xxx

There is a brilliant app called my fitness pal (it's a website too) you add everything you eat and it tells you how much calories/protein/carbs/vitamins etc etc you are getting.. I'm only at the pre op diet stage but it's already invaluable and it's free!!! It updates automatically on your phone/computer/iPad/kitchen sink(!) too.. It puts your mind at rest at what you are getting xx

You dont know how much it means to hear your comments as it doesn't take much to spark a panic attack and I have no support from where I had the surgery. I had a scare in post op with my heart and I spent last year nursing my mother and mother in law till they passed and my father the year before that.

It's stands to reason that after all that stress you would get anxiety now on top. You are now having to focus in you. That's scary, even before WLS.

But you can do this. We are all here anytime you need support :)
