Just wondered if anyone else doesn't feel full after eating I'm only 2 weeks post op RNY puree stage and never get that full feeling and could eat more if I wanted although I haven't tried as I'm sticking to want I have been told, if I see food on the TV I think that looks yummy and could eat that,If i didn't have my wounds I would wonder if I really had my op although I do really struggle with water any advice would be grateful :)

I'm three weeks tomorrow and felt the same as you. The only time I've felt full is at breakfast when I manage about half a weetabix! Strange isn't it!

Hello Pollyann , I asked the same question at your stage , your body inside will still be numb and tender so you won't feel a restriction yet , some do some don't , I didn't , I only felt restriction say about 6 to 8 weeks when I started eating normal foods and now I am 11 weeks post op I eat regular foods and feel very full after a small meal , hang in there it will come and try not to force loads of food down at this stage if you not hunger which you shouldn't be only limit your self to two tablespoons each meal x

Ladies...i can assure you, once you move on to solids you'll feel the restriction for sure.
Whatever you do though don't rush through your stages of foods as you'll risk damage to your insides.
I spent 4 weeks on each stage and my restriction is still going good after almost 5 years.

I'm so pleased i read this, i'm 5 days post op and eat about 4 puree meals a day, 2 tablespoons a time, i'm having my water as well but i could easily do without, i 'm neither hungry or full and was beginning to worry a bit. I wondered if i would ever feel full but you have answered all my worries.
My husband had a lovely full english breakfast yesterday and i was licking my lips but only because i love bacon, i wasn't really hungry it just looked so good lol xxxxx

It's normal Pauline , soon as your eating solid food again protein first always you will feel the restriction , my varies some days it's very restrictive and others I can eat a lot esp salad , you will feel it , I remembered worrying too and asking the same questions . Won't be long and you can enjoy a nice lean toasted bacon lettuce and tomato sarnie lol xxxxxx

Bread what's that?...lol
I still can't eat bread after all these years!
I think I must just be unlucky many others can,and at times I'd kill for a sandwich!

Pauline...when u move to solids the fullness is quite overwhelming at first,so don't worry you'll definetly get that fullness feeling x

With the pyloric valve gone purees slide thru easily as do softs and things like crackers. When you move back on to normal solids and chew normally then the food will remain in the stomach longer so you will feel that restriction

I am 5 weeks post op today. Following my providers guidance I am now on mashed soft food but this also does allow some harder protein like chicken slices, beef slices, baked fish etc. the only things I have had problems with are tuna and anything with skins like beans, peas etc.

I do feel restriction but not at every meal. I never get it at breakfast which is now quite a substantial bowl of porridge made with 180-200ml of ss milk. Main meals I take about 50 or 60 grams of meat or about 100gm fish. Normally I have this with some veg, baked potato or couscous.

My worry is I am getting through 1000 cals a day over 3 meals and one snack and I could easily elevate this a lot.

Surely at this stage I should be struggling to eat that amount,

Any advice welcome thanks.

Chrissy. If anything this forum has shown me that everyone is different. You may need to make different food choices and show a bit more restraint than others once your fully recovered :-(

Karina and Alfie are a real example of this they both had a sleeve. Karina still can't eat much and Alfie feels her sleeve is not stopping her eat at all

Chrystal has lost a massive amount of weight with an empty band while I never ever felt any restriction even before my leak

Don't stress over it right now. Just heal and hang on and see what happens xxx

Chrissy I feel like I eat quite a lot, but calorie wise I am usually at about 800, I usually have about 50-60gms of meat and fish, sometimes when I make a salad to go with it my plate looks really full, then I remember it is a tea plate. Tuna is one thing that always causes restriction for me.

Even on 1000 calories a day you should still be in deficit.

I felt the same as you hun. The nerves in your tummy have not all healed properly yet this can give you a different full signal than it should. Plus you are not eating dense protein. I could easily have a whole tin of soup or lots of cracker bread and soft cheese/thin deli meat. Wait til you try to eat a grilled chicken breast.
To give your self a test buy some of those Dr kargs crackers. Even now a whole one of those fills me up so much like a heavy weight in my stomach. See how much of one of those you can eat. They seem small but it's all about density. I feel I have more restriction now than 2 months ago xxx

I am eating chicken breast and sliced toast beef.. they do restrict me but am not having dense protein at every meal. I like a cereal in the morning go help with my bms lol.

Thanks for the advice though, I have decided to cut out my snack which is like another meal most of the time, most of my meals are around 250 cals. Ish. I think you ate probably right it is still early days in the healing stakes. Thank you ;)
