Can anyone explain what 'significant divarication of the recta and the abdominal apron is profound and accompanied by functional problems' means in simple words?

Got PALS looking into it but its taken nearly a week to just get the above statement out of them!

Thanks Red :)

I've managed to find out its basically the two main abdominal muscles spreading apart. What I'm struggling to find out is how to find out if it has happened.

Seems that for my PCT that is the main criteria, and that the apron hangs below the symphis pubis (which I think mine does).

I have had a child yes. I think they do as there is a midline bulge down the centre of my tummy.

Going to go see the GP later this week to find out more about it all. The skin is already red around the crease just above my pubic line which should help, along with my existing medical problems.

All the documents I've read from the PCT don't mention other skin folds, only abdominoplasty, so that's a bit disheartening as my thighs are already causing me discomfort.

Bugger.

Just had my 6th phone call from PALS. PCT have said that a new document has just come out which says a BMI of less than 26 has to have been maintained for 2 years before abdominoplasty will be considered :(

Still going to see what GP has to say, as I think that my skin problems may mean that I could come under Exceptional Treatment.

2 years :(
