I'm day 3 post op and my stomach has bloated so much tonight, I'm super uncomfortable and am wondering what I can take to relieve consipation. Its been 6 days eeeck

Lactulose is gentle and will have the desired results.

Don't take Fybogel - it expands in your stomach. Increase your fluid intake too - that's a huge help.

Good luck!

Definitely agree with lactoluse it was a god send for me, I struggled to get fluids down as I felt so bloated. I hope you feel better soon :)

I was told to take liquid senakot as I wasa dvised against taking anything too sweet, seemed to help.

Dulcolax will be better than lactulose. That's what I was advised to take fir constipation. Lactulose only softens your stool, it doesn't help you pass it.

Have you tried Milk of Magnesia ? Works really fast.

I'm a few days short of the pre-op diet. I'm also looking for something to take in the pre-op period due to the side effect of opiod painkillers when combined with a the 3x SlimFast diet.

Lactulose is definitely a laxative, as opposed to a stool softener. However, it works differently to Dulcolax. If you want overnight relief, go with Dulcolax. If you'd prefer a gentler bowel movement, Lactulose over 5-7 days will do the trick.
It's not an overnight bang-for-your-buck kinda medicine - it's gentle and takes it's time to work.

A dietician told me that Kiwi is good natural way to help with constipation

Most soft fruits have a laxative effect. Also it's a healthy and tasty alternative to a meal
