I think I'm there decision done then I read a bit more, problems with side effects from the band, it not working, weight gain again - then I start to chicken out again. I sometimes wish I didn't read the threads but then sometimes I glad I did. So so confused, suppose I'm not the only one. Expect I'm scared as I have 2 small gorgeous boys & I don't want anything to go wrong. Sorry rambling xx

Aw Mandy its such a big decision isnt it no wonder you are getting confused.

My advice would be to be honest with yourself - can you committ to the healthy eating and exercise regime needed to help the band work for you?

The band WILL restrict the volume and type of food you can consume but as with the other surgeries it is a tool to help you succeed.

Good luck with your decision, have you met a surgeon yet - sorry if you have allready said but sometimes a talk over with them helps x

Thanks Mazza no only just spoke to the dietician awaiting appt from consultant. With me it's a mixture, over eating, boredom (hubby works away during the week so in the house with the children in the evening) eating rubbish, eating kids left overs. No hope ah lol xx

I still struggle, but there are ways of coping with bad habits (like leftovers etc) You get to learn it as you go along I think. I allow myself extra treats but only on the weekend and it works OK.
My main problem is comfort eating, but having said that, when I am following the "band rules" I lose as well and I love my food!

I can relate to the boredom thing! When my other half is on lates and my daughter is in bed I am now a reformed fridge picker! I spend time on here, facebook, the gym - whatever it takes and then if all else fails housework lol x

Have got the wii fit and dance - not been able to do it as had sore back but hopefully after the band will use that as my boredom gap xx

I can totally relate to you on this one, i have 3 young boys and am so worried about something going wrong.
I have booked my op for 9th march currently on pre op diet and i am still thinking am i doing the right thing

I want to be able to chase my boys and play football with them without puffing and panting after a couple of minutes and being embarrassed about my big fat body bouncing around

Its such a hard decision but i did go to an open day and spoke to surgeon and lead nurse and that totally helped me in making my decision. I am nervous but i know that this is going to be the start of the new me :D

Good luck in making your decision and your journey xxx

Thanks I know what you mean, so looking forward to running around with the boys - defiantly will have my work cut out with my 6 month old when he starts walking that's why I've got to get thinner.
Good luck for the 9th xx

Lol!!! We deffo have our work cut out dont we :D

I have 3 boys Elliott 4 and half, Benjamin very nearly 3 and Oliver 10 months and a dog, i must be mad :8855::8855::8855:

When my youngest starts walking and running im gonna need to be super fit :D lil monkey he is and he aint moving yet.

It's my 3 year old that's the monkey :) always on the go wish I had his energy lol. My 6 month old is an angel at the mo bet that changes he he x

My boys are great when they are on their own but when my 4 and 3 year old get together, its crazy!!!

Its nice when Elliott is at nursery and i get a break from the two of them bouncing off each other :D
Come September Elliott will be in reception full time and Benjy will start nursery 2 and half days and i will just have Oliver :bliss:bet i wont know what to do with myself.

I know sounds awful but can't wait till September Dawson goes school yippee, he needs tiring out lol. But by then I will have to go back to work (maternity finished) - hay ho x

Please don't take this the wrong way cause I'm not saying its nice that you are fearful but it is really refreshing to hear that we all have similar fears with this! I am worrying as well, I have a 9 year old daughter and also worry about health etc after losing my Mum suddenly last year. This also makes me want the band more though, I'm desperate to finally lose the weight and maintain it, run around with my daughter, go swimming and ice skating with her!

I've got my consultation on the 12th of March and will then be hoping to book the operation to have it in April!

if you are more of a "volume" eater then the band is better, because it restricts the amount of food you can take in..... i had two bands before and with the first band i lost allot of weight as i worked with it, good luck on your decision x

I had decided on a band because i thought it was less risky but after going to a group seminar I knew I bypass would be better as I was a snacker although I don't do that any more ! I have three young girls and was ready to do a runner in the hospital but it is the best thing I have ever done for myself was all done and dusted in 1.5 hours xxx

Thanks all for your advice, so glade I found this site.
Consultation booked in march have provisionally asked if band can be done in April xx
