I would really love to chat to someone who has had their gastric bypass in Chichester on the NHS. I would like to know if I have been seen my the surgeon for my first appoinment does that mean my funding has been approved? And...how long do you have to wait for the surgery? Please help...I can't stop thinking about it....(and worrying)

Hi Noreen. I'm going to see St Richards on Wednesday for my first appointment so I shall try and find out the answer for you (I shall want to know anyway!). Try not to think and worry about it (difficult I know) but focus on the future when you will be on the losing side. Best wishes. Julie x

if the process is still the same which im sure it is you wont get to see consultant till funding is in place once you have seen him it about a 5months wait

Love nhugs Jay xx

Thank you everyone for the welcome! I look forward to hearing from you Julie. All the best for Wednesday. Do you know who your surgeon is? I was seen by Mr Tim John. Thanks Serenity for the info. So nice to chat to people in the same 'boat'. Have you had your surgery Serenity?

hi noreen i can't help with your question but welcome to mini's and good luck with your WLS journey

Hi Noreen. I'm due to see Mr Slater according to the letetr I was sent, but it appears several people from here were also due to see him and actually saw Mr Sommers instead, so I guess it depends on how busy they are. Will let you know how I get on. Best wishes. Julie x

Hi

I am a week post bypass op from st richards
if you have an appoinment it means funding is approved - was told st richards always get funding first( check with your GP they will have been advised by the PCT who approves the funding )
Then wait for an appoinment is anywhere from 6-9 months and then I think they are saying 6 months from then for the op

Oh I can't wait to have my surgery done. I have a wedding to go to in August and I'm dreading it because of trying to find something to wear that doesn't resemble a tent! When I spoke to the surgeon he said 3 to 4 months so hopefully I won't have to go to the wedding at all....Starry...how has your first week been? How long were you in hospital for? Did it hurt (silly question). I'm reading a great book at the moment called 'Life After Gastric Bypass' which teaches you how to eat following surgery and at the later stages in order to mantain weight loss.
