Hi there,
I am starting out on my battle to get a gastric bypass on the NHS. I weigh 348 lbs with a bmi of 60.7. I live in Dorset and hear the PCT man is a hard man to please!! I have the full support from my doctor who is prepared to fight for me which is great. Has anyone else had a bypass in my area? Can you tell me the chances of me getting it on the nhs and how long you had to wait from your first visit to the doctor until the op? Apologies for the lack of 'prettiness' to my profile, I only joined tonight and haven't worked out how to get it looking nice yet. Nice to meet you all:confused::confused:

Hi Colopatiron,:welcome2: to mini's and hope you find this forum helpful. do you meet the criteria for your are?? Have you checked out the bospa website?? This will give you the criteria for your area. Good luck on your wls journey.

Hi and welcome to mini's i went provate so am unable to answer about the pct criteria ect but with your BMI i do not imagine you would have a problem getting your funding.

good luck and someone will be along shortly or in the morning who can answer

Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply, nice to feel welcome. It will be a long battle but soooooooooo worth it. Patience has never been one of my better virtues, but patient I must be. Nice to meet you

Everyone is sooooooo friendly and supportive here so dive in and ask loads of questions!!

I have had a duodenal switch on 5th May and I'm from Meseyside so don't know about bypass in your area but I wish you all the luck in the world for your journey.

Take care and stay positive!!

Hi Colopatrian, I too have only just joined minis. Like yourself I am awaiting funding from my pct. The Dr at the obesity clinic sent a letter in December requesting it and I still have not heard anything. I put a post on here and everyone suggested that I chased them for an answer so I sent them an email. Hopefully when they go into the office on Tuesday they will reply to it and say YES. I am so desperate for this op now and if they say no I will be so upset. Good Luck with yours.
