Were you looking to go private or have it on the NHS? I always thought i would have a band, however once i had an appointment with the nurse and surgeon, it was suggested that a bypass would better suit me due to lifestyle and eating habits mIne was done on the Nhs though would still be saving if had to go private haven't got access to that kind of cash. Don't rule out other options till you have had professional advice, i cam home very confused and bewildered the bypass was the one thing my husband didn't want me to have, i was scared as well , very big step but here we are all sorted almost 9 months post op and almost 6 stone off since op and 2 just before so 8 stone since last July. Keep your options open. Good luck happy searching . xx:rolleyes:

Well I'm 31 and recently been to GP as had liver pain! He thinks fatty liver disease (non alcoholic) weighing in just under 20 st! BMI under 40 but GP asked if I had considered band/surgery! He thinks with the fatty liver I can go through nhs! Partner very anti me having it done! Done all diets and exercise and lost my gall bladder due to lighter life! Awaiting a scan of liver and more bloods and then review! Thanks for the replies! It's so difficult! What is dumping that I keep seeing? Thanx Paul

Dumping is something which usually occurs when you have eaten something which your new pouch cannot cope with after a bypass, too much sugar i.e biscuits cakes sweets etc. too much fat, we can often eat things then the next day they can give us nasty stomach cramps followed by diaorrhea, sweating a feeling of being unwell and shaky, usually best to lie down if it occurs and let it pass it isn't a very nice feeling. If you careful and try and behave it may never affect you, but must of us have sampled it at one time or another. xx Good luck with your journey whatever you decide xx:flirt2:
