Hi,
I see the consult and and team in North Yorkshire in 2 weeks, I'm guessing that I'll be given target weight.
Any advice?

Hi Vicky, Welcome to the forum. Don't suppose your getting your op at York hospital are you? (Just, I rarely come across people having it done there).
Anyway...Good Luck on your journey.
Never give up!

Hi Toni,
No it won't be York, I think it will be James Cook. I will find out more on the 19th. Xx

I notice you have not got your date yet, have they given you a target weight? And how long did they give you to lose it please?

Welcome to the forum. I hope your appointment goes well.

Hello and welcome to the forum :)

When people mention 3 & 4 tier stuff...im unsure what there on about...as I started my journey with York hospital a little over 2 years ago ...but backed out at last minute...I've since gone back on list (about 5 month ago).
All he's requested I do is continue to try and lose weight the best I can. If I was to gain quite a bit in the process, he (my consultant) said he'd question my commitment...and rightly so. Since I first saw him 2 years ago...I've lost about 3 and a half stone. That said...in them 2 years...I'd lost and gained that weight 3 times! I saw the surgeon about 2 weeks ago...now I'm led to believe it's gone to the MDT, where they all have a meeting to discuss whether I'd be a suitable canidate for surgery or not...hopefully securing funding for my op. He never gave me a target amout of weight to lose.
Sorry that's not much help for you, maybe someone else who's been through the 'tier' process will be along to advise and help you more. There seems to be very different process's hospital to hospital.
Good Luck, at your appointment in 2 weeks.

Oh gosh I'm praying I don't have to wait that long, my go told me that I would be on the 3 tier, and shed refer me for the first tier, ( I actually don't know what any of the tiers are)
I was then referred to the weight loss management clinic in guys borough and was initially told that I would have to attend seminar, then I was told I didn't have to as I live too far away, I was told by the receptionist the consultant had seen my referral and accepted me and my appt to see him and dietician, and maybe psychologist on 19th and I'd need to complete lots of questionnaires. That's all I know. It seems that everyone's processes are different. It's so confusing.

Had I not backed out at last minute before...from doctors referal, to surgery date...it would have been about 9 months in total.
