Hi my name is Sarah, i'm 29. I'm due to have my bypass 13th October with the WLS group at Spire Little Aston under Mr Khan. I look forward to getting to know you all, and sharing my journey with you. I've been reading posts for a while now and feel ready for what lies ahead, most of my questions have been answered but i'm sure i'll think of some more :D

Hi Sarah and welcome to the forum. Wow your surgery isn't far away now, bet you're getting excited. It's the best thing I ever did for myself, wish I'd done it 10 years earlier.

Ask anything you need to know, we're all here for each other and will answer as best we can.

Kate x

Thankyou Kate yes it is soon I'm so nervous and excited. I'm really annoyed with myself though as my pre op diet doesn't start until Saturday so I'm eating everything I'm not going to be able to eat in the mean time. I feel do disgusted with myself as it's basically binge eating which is what got me hear in the first place I feel so out of control at the moment .

Hi Sarah I am so jealous although I haven't been waiting long at all if you look at my signature lol. Mr Khan is a lovely man he is a fantastic surgeon you are in really good and safe hands. lol on the binge eating I know what your thinking on that score will be nice so follow someone on their pre-op diet for the same surgeon i am having mine done by what diet are you planning on doing?

Welcome to the forum sarah I'm sure you will find lots of support and sound advice on here.... Good luck with your surgery xxx

I'm unsure on what diet to do to be honest I've got a list of choices to choose from. What diet will you follow ? x

I will likely do the milk diet for the simple reason don't have to worry that I am choosing the right foods and I don't eat on a regular basis anyway, but I do like milk am working on transferring to semi skimmed milk at the moment as I am a proper milk person like real coke etc lol. At the seminar I did say that I would think the milk diet would be real hard for a food lover though as cant imagine going from food to no food at all and not struggling you sure need some will power for that I think and although everyone does it it cant be easy as that's one of the reasons we have reached this stage isn't it?
You need to make the right choice for you, as i said its great that you have joined as I can see how you cope with whatever way you decide to go. At least on here there is fantastic support Wendy is great at answering most of my questions lol.

where in Brum are you I am in Halesowen but lived in Brum up until a few years ago.

I live in stirchley so not far I'm a few houses away from cadburys how ironic ha. I know what you mean a bout the milk diet it's easier to stick to when no foods involved. I've lost 6 stone twice on the Cambridge diet which was just shakes and soups it was only when I had to reintroduce food that the problems start damn food. At least at the end of the milk diet I'll be armed with a tool to help me. x

Hi Babyseed
I had my Gastric Bypass at the Spire Little Aston with Mr Khan too. As others have said Mr Khan is lovely and the whole team at Little Aston will take good care of you, they where all lovely!

oh i know where you are babyseed I used to live in Stirchley not far from Cadburys too

Hi baby seed maybe you need to set yourself some goals as you approach your surgery date. This may make it a bit easier for you and get your head around it. I believe if the head is in the right place then you can do anyhting, i often have to give myself a good talking to and then decide on a day to start again. You need to slow down and stop bingeing, there is very little I can't eat and I am over a year out of bypass surgery. Just try having a small amount of what you want, n make it last. Get your pre op diet sorted out n have a look at what you need to buy in if anything make a list, keep looking at it till your mind is focussed and on task. You cannot really afford to put any weight on as some surgeons can be quite strict and cancel ops, i would have been mortified if i couldn't have had mine and am sure you would to, you just have to get yourself into the mindset and away you go. Best of luck for the op and pre op diet, just ask if we can help you with anyhting it is a difficult and scary stage when we think we will never be able to eat properley again, that is not the case, some things people cannot tollerate but most of us can eat a lot of different things, and your pallett does change a bit after the op. xx

Thankyou for the good advice. I know what you are saying is true and its what i keep telling myself. I think im terrified of never being able to dampen my feelings with food again and at the moment my mood is all over the place. I'm starting my diet on saturday and cant wait as eating rubbish makes me feel rubbish, as of today i will be eating healthily with the exception of a meal out at my favorite restaurant. x

Just calm yourself down and follow your routine tick off the days on your calendar it really does help xx

Hi babyseed and welcome to the forum. Good luck with you're surgery x
