hi there and welcome read the threads lots of fantastic advice and support and research for the surgery you are considering

Hi and welcome

I'm also a Derby-ite but as I had no other co-morbidities and some slots came up I was lucky enough to get done at the Nuffield in Derby.

The Derby team are (on the whole) lovely. One or two of the surgical team can be a bit 'personality-less' but the majority of them are fab. I came out from my meeting with the anaesthetist to funny looks from everyone waiting as we had shrieked with laughter all the way through. And the dieticians are lovely. They are behind you ALL the way.

Even the ladies behind receptionist in the out patients waiting area are sweet. One in particular almost jumped over the counter to give me a hug when I was told the dietician was happy to recommend me for surgery. (That could have been relief though as while my appointment was going on according to the Aztecs the world was meant to end and it hadn't).

xx

Hi guys been off my feet me knees been very bad and painfull had to be of work 5 weeks just got letter for education session tomorrow not sure what to expect weight really is a burden now just wanna move forward

Really need to ask questions tomorrow for the education session not sure what ? To ask

Questions to ask depend on what you want to know!

You'll be in a group so they'll talk through a lot already. Others will ask questions which might prompt you. Have a pen and paper to scribble random thoughts to ask when opportunity comes.

Don't be shy - ask ask ask. It's the point of the session, to ensure you're fully informed.

Good luck. Let us know how you get on :)

They give you all the info not really much you can list to ask I found easier just to ask as they went along example when they discussed each type of surgery I asked which would have the best success rate and lowest mortality rate

Ekk off to my education session excited and nervous as feel this is the start of my journey

Welcome and good luck :)

Well education session was good so it looks like in 6 weeks I'll get to see consultant then put on list which apparently no more than 6 months so fingers crossed could be Xmas or new year think I made the right choice and my only option at this moment
