Hi Gillian, i'm a bypasser from Scotland (but went to Manchester for it!). There are a few banders on the forum who I'm sure will be along soon to answer your questions.

There's another Scottish meeting being planned soon and there is a succesful bander there - she had surgery in Glasgow under Mr Galloway I think. Keep an eye on the threads and hopefully we'll see you there....what part of Scotland are you from if you don't mind me asking?

Thanks. Which hospital was it you went with biggy123? Was your aftercare in scotland? I wouldn't mind travelling for the op itself but i couldn't travel all the time for any aftercare. I've noticed a place in belguim does the surgery abroad then they have clinics in england that do the aftercare but i don't think i'd be keen on getting it abroad!

Hi Gillian - our last get together was just outside Stirling! Gaelic Girl and Jacquie were our fab organisers and arranged to meet as centrally as possible so I think it may be Stirling again (The Birds and Bees pub).

I went to the Spire Hospital purely to have Mr Ammori as my surgeon, he is highly recommended and I am extremely happy with the results of the op. I contacted Marcus Landauer who arranged my consultation and surgery with Mr Ammori.

I'm only 2 weeks out of surgery so my aftercare hasn't really started yet but my follow up consultations will be in Manchester - Good excuse for a day out.

I know the band is different as you have to go for fills so it may be better to have somewhere close by? The Spire group has a hospital in Edinburgh and you can also go to Ross Hall and Nuffield in Glasgow.

Hi Gillian, I'm also from Alloa and had to get it done privately as I have no health problems (thankfully). I've got my op date on the 15th Dec at Ross Hall in Glasgow. It is costing just under 7k to have the band fitted, and goes up another 1k if your bmi is over 50, the bypass was 10k.
