Hello everyone!

I'm just starting out (was referred by GP 2 weeks ago to Mr Small at SRH).

Any idea when I should hear anything?

Hi discojen - im new too :) best of luck with your journey but sadly i don't have an answer for your question.

My experience with my GP did not go past "no no, just join a weight loss club and go to every meeting and don't give up and don't eat!" for the last 2-3 years and i decided to go private, i have no patience left with nhs.

Looking forward to watching your journey!

I was quite surprised actually Tobi, last time I went to the GP I was told that I had to see the dietitian. They sent me the appointments out but they were all when I was at work.

Then I went 3 weeks ago at the end of my tether (tried every diet going, etc, etc) and he said "I can refer you for surgery you know?" I nearly fell off the seat!

That's the last I heard so don't know what will happen next.

Hello! Welcome,
My GP originally palmed me off and said that my PCT dont fund wls. I rang the pct myself and they filled me with knowledge and told me to "march straight back in and demand a referral" lol. Anyway that was July last year and I got my first appointment for 5th september which was moved to 30th because I didnt want to miss my daughters first say at school. It went a bit quiet between October to just before new year where I received a letter for another appointment and since Feb this year its been every few weeks. I got my surgery date telephoned through to me on 11th June and I'm in on monday!! :D
Dont be afraid to pester them, I must admit since January it's all I've done lol they must be sick of me but they have assured me other wise
Best of luck x

Hello, I was recently referred to SRH by my GP and I got a 'choose and book' letter about 2 weeks later. That allowed me to book the group seminar about 2/3 weeks after that so it was all very quick, much quicker than I had expected. I have now been to seminar and have my next appointment with the nurse/dietitian in October. Hope this helps, I know the feeling of waiting I'm so impatient and wish it was my turn for surgery : )

Really pleased for those of you who were referred by their GPs. Now that i've read this, i wonder if i could get lucky too if i pushed a bit more. However, i'm very very impatient at the moment since i finally made up my mind and i don't want to get on a waiting list. I do wish i came to these forums sooner though, maybe i wouldn't be spending 5k then :)
