Hi :)

I'm nervously going to my GP on Tuesday to ask for a bit of help. I have lost just over 3st on my own but my BMI is hovering around the 40 mark and I just can't get it to budge (I lost weight on a TFR - no longer an option)

I was seeing a dietitian at previous GP surgery 2 years ago who mentioned WLS would be a good option for me - I moved counties so could no longer see her.

I have no idea how the process goes - I'm in Nottinghamshire, UK. I would be very grateful for any advice for Tuesday as I'm extremely nervous. I'll probably break down and plead.

Any help/advice is greatly received :)

It depends on the BMI criteria for your area but they will send a referral to the hospital and u just have to wait.

It's 50 without any co morbidities. And 40 -45 with. I'm from Nottingham and had my bypass at DRI in 2012. Good luck, I hope all goes well for you :)

Do you have any co morbidities? If you want to ask anything else and I can help you, I will. Where in Nottinghamshire are you from?

No, not that I know of. My blood pressure is always fine, I dont have any signs of diabetes. Mobility is good, it's just mentally I think but I've never seen anyone about that.

I have family history of hypertension but I dont think that counts?

I'm in Huthwaite. I'm arranging a consultation with the hospital group tomorrow in west bridgeford. I may be able to move finances about but it will be tight :(

Ahh so your going to go private if you can? Don't worry about your bmi then, just go with the surgery the surgeon suggests best suits your eating habits :)

Possibly - if my husband can get me finance as I've just gone self employed so the having one regular wage is something to get used to!

Hi I went private and didn't matter about BMI from start to finish I think was 4 weeks but alot of money and hopefully well worth it as early days yet. Good luck x
