:)Hiya to all just found this site, im due to have my operation on 17th December. Personally i cannot wait to have it done, like most of you have tried so many diets now have lost all hope of ever loosing any weight.
I live in the Norfolk area and am having mine done at Luton, been offered to procedures but not sure which one? Been offered bypass and the sleeve.

Would love to talk to some of you to help me make my mind up. The operation seems so long away at the moment but im sure time will go very quickly.

Hi and welcome this is a fab site and if you have questions ask away.

Hi CC (hope you dont mind that!). Welcome to Minimins. Good luck with your journey. What does your surgeon advise you to have? I had my surgery at the Whittington and they advise that a sleeve is a temporary measure for those people who are too large to have a bypass. The intention is that once they have lost a certain amount of weight, it gets converted. However, I do know several people who have had sleeves and are thrilled and delighted and wouldnt swop for anything - Mixman on here is one of those. The bypass obviously comes with food restrictions etc. Speaking from Bypass experience (6 months), Im totally happy with my choice and I feel that I have my life back and dont regret a second of it. I would find Mixman if I were you - can you PM him as a newbie (?) and ask him for his views on the sleeve! Good luck with whatever choice you make.

Hiya Choc :) I hope you enjoy yourself here and that you get the info you're looking for. The bariatric team that you're having surgery with will be best qualified to say which op suits you personally but everyone here has lots of advice and experience to help you understand the ins and outs of each choice and obviously give you lots of input on every stage of the process. Good luck!

hello and welcome x

WELCOME TO MINIS! xxxxx

Hi hun, and welcome to minis:D:D

Hi Chocchucky, welcome to a great site! As you are having the op at the L&D is your surgeon Mr Whitelaw? Or Mr Jain? My op is with Mr Whitelaw in a couple of weeks time. He offered me the sleeve or the bypass, I chose the bypass and he agreed it was the right choice for me. 95% of his ops done on the NHS are bypasses. It's different for everyone though, your surgeon will give you a choice but can also give you his weightloss and success statistics too.

Good luck!
Cuppa xx :D

Hi Sharon I am have not had the surgery yet but am still waiting for funding. I have had 2 refusals and am in the process of being checked for sleep apnea. If I don't have it then I will go to appeal again. I am hoping to have a bypass, has your surgeon not advised you which one would be best for you? Take care.
