Holiday.....just wondering?

Hi everyone

I'm going on holiday on 12th October to Northern Cyprus (Kyrenia) and will be 10 weeks post op and I am worried about a couple of things :-

Alcohol - I am not a great beer drinker (I never have one at home) but I do like to have one especially when I'm in the sun! What do you think? Is this possible or not?
Food - I am assuming that I'll be eating 'proper' food by then. Having been to the hotel before I know that I will be able to have scrambled eggs for breakfast, so that's ok, but what about lunch and my evening meal? What's appropriate? I am not at all bothered by puddings or sweets, so they are not an issue. Do you think salads and rice with some protein will be ok? :)

im now 10 weeks post op and eat anything in moderation, apart from bread as i used to love it and dont want to eat much of that; alcohol is supposed to be a no no but i have 1 g and t fri sat and sun as my surgeon just said in moderation was fine when i was recovered, but i do know some people are told either never again or after 1 year,, everyone is different, but if you are going to have a drink have one in the house first as it does go straight to your head, but you must only do what is right for you and if unsure always ask your team, they are the proffesionals xxxx

Don't think rice is recommended as it can swell up in your stomach. Also some people find they have trouble with salad veg - I think if you focus on the protein bit - chicken, lamb etc then you should be good.

Lucky you with a holiday to look forward to - just as we are going into wintertime you will be heading to the sun:)

I'm going on holiday in 2 weeks and will be 10 weeks post op by then. I asked my surgeon about alcohol as like you I do like one or 2 when I'm on holiday. His words were "no reason why not but you will get pissed".. I dont want to go on holiday and try alcohol for the first time in case it doesnt agree with me, so I had a glass of wine the other night and I was absolutely fine. I dont plan on making a habit of it but nice to have the choice. As for food rice and bread are a no no for me but seem to be ok with eggs, meat and fish. Its good that you know the hotel and area so you have an idea what types of food to expect. Hope you have a great time x

Everyone told me that post op you would get drunk really easy but yet iam just the same as I was before maybe it's because I can't drink as much.
I would avoid rice and salad and stick to proteins. Rice bloats me now and iam nearly 7 months out and alot of people struggle with salad in the early days.
Iam sure there will be lots of choice hope you enjoy your holiday.

Hi I'm just coming back from Florida, I was 12 weeks post op when I got here. I have eaten chicken or fish with veg or salad and fruit for a desert and I was fine. Haven't had any alcohol cos I'm giving it 6 months I'm going to have a drink at Christmas, I would say I was quite a big drinker before the op but it didn't really bother me, you will be fine, have a great time, Karen x
