Just thought I'd let anyone on Homertons list know. I was speaking to one of the Bariatric Nurses today and she said they are all booked up till December.

I was told this as I'm am waiting to hear about possible Revision Surgery. If my op is going to happen, It won't be till next year.

Hun why are u having a revision xx

I only had my first assesment at Homerton in August, waiting for the multidisciplinary meeting then for funding. I was expecting early next year but looks like that may be a bit longer then!
Can I ask also why you're having revision surgery?
Take care

Hmm, thanks Pinky, If I'd read this a month ago I would have been absolutely gutted, after waiting 15 months, I have my date for surgery at Homerton for 20th oct 10.

Like you, I'm inder Mr Mannur, how did you find him? what was your experience of Homerton, If you don't mind me asking.

Very very poor weight loss.

I haven't weighed myself for a few weeks, but
I've lost just over 2st since the day of my op .

Hiya,

Don't mind you asking:).

So glad you have your date. I was one of the fortunate one's and from referral till op date was about 6 months.

Though my weight loss has been poor I don't put that down to any thing other than I'm one of the 5% the Bypass fails. I had my op on 27th Oct 2009 and have lost just over 2st .

I think Mr Mannur is great and if I have revision surgery I'll be requesting him :). He is the most experienced one there. I think he is the Head Of The Bariatric Team at Homerton.

All the Bariatric Team I have come contact with have been great.

Hope this was helpfull.

Wot op did u have done ???

Yes I had it done nearly a year ago, but my weight loss has been really really bad.

With revision surgery they either make the pouch smaller or do something (not sure what) to reduce malabsorption.

I heard today that the size of my pouch is fine, so I'm just waiting for the MDT to say yes to revision surgery. I'll also have to get funding again.

Thanks Pinky

Sorry that your loss has been disapointing for you.
Actually when I went to the nurtrition grp in 09 I met a woman who had had a bypass privately which had also failed to deliver the expected weight loss. She was also having revision surgery with Mr Mannur.

wishing you all the best

Once all the boxes are ticked (MDT, funding) they more pretty quickly.

I get the impression the MDT will be meeting soon, because I was asked to ring in a couple of weeks to see what they have agreed.

Hope you find out soon. x

I must have been really lucky then as i have only had to wait such a short amount of time. What tests did people need before having their op at homerton?

I was lucky too I guess - I had first assessment in July 2009 and was done and dusted by 5 December 2009

Stella, i was told i was having Mr Koak but my letter say Mr Mannur list, what is Mr Koak like incase i do get him as there is not alot of details about him.
