Hiya Guys and Gals

I posted in here because I cannot find the womens health section ( I can see the mens though, lol)

Well basically in a nut shell its health related and just over two weeks ago I woke up , got up and I felt fine and then all of a sudden I got this intense back pain, as time has gone on it has got worse, I cannot even pick a bag of shopping up, walk longer then a few steps without being in pain and when the pains at its peak I cannot even walk at all. I feel like an old lady and I certainly walk like one, needless to say I have been to the docs and he doesnt know wot it is basically and given me pain relief , I am at my wits end spend most of the day laying on the couch coz I cant move hardly and I end up crying feeling sorry and bloody frustrated as this has gone on long enough, and the only way I can describe the pain the best way I know how.......is it feels like a red hot poker or a knife been shoved in my back , I have had shooting pains in my heels and my bone in my bum ( bottom of spine) i cant even lay in the bath or sit on it for too long either, been getting pins and needles in my hands 2:cry:...................I know nobody is qualified to say whats wrong, thats not what I am after I just wanted to know if anyone else has had this before and what it turned out too be ( doc doesnt think its sciatica either) thanks in advance for reading and sorry to whinge on but am at my wits end - thanks all xxxx

I don't know, but I think your doctor not knowing either is not good enough. S/he should have referred you with such bad pain and debilitation. Go back hun, or see another GP at the practice and tell them you need some proper medical attention. Do keep us posted.
Hope you feel better soon xx

Bless ya Julie ... I suffer with chronic back pain but it doesn't sound the same as yours ... go back to the gp and ask fir a second opinion ... nothing worse than being in pain xxx

The first thing to do is to keep moving staying still for a long amount of time is the worst thing you can do.

Second go and see another gp in the practice.

But if things are too bad go to A&E

Get a second opinion do let the pain ware you down x

Ask to be referred to a back specialist as the first month is crucial to get help for back pain. My doctor did not take me seriously because i was 16 at time and 2 years later I got diagnosed with disk degeneration disease and 2 prolapses, over 10 years later still in pain due to late diagnosis. No doctor who does not specialise in this field will be able to diagnose you only a MRI scan will see if anything out of place. Does sound like trapped nerve (siatica) sorry about spelling lol. As shooting pains and pins and needles common sign I suffer with these. Also sounds as if you have damaged back. Can you get someone to gently press on spine to see if you can feel which disk it is. Or does it change, if you can tell and in same place all the time also another sign you have done something. So sorry you are suffering as it can be so painful, hope you get some help even if you have to go to ane. X x x

Hi Julie, I don't have an answer for you, sweetie but just wanted to send you my best wishes for a speedy conclusion. Definitely go back to your doctor or A & E if he still has no idea. I once went to Blackpool & sat on the sands with my back to the sea, but when we got back to the car I found myself in absolute agony to the point that my husband did not mess about, he took me straight to A & E where after a thorough check over they said my muscles in my back had locked with the wind against my back. They sent me home with very strong painkillers & muscle relaxants & after 4 or 5 days it began to get better. To fully get back to normal it took 3 weeks. Never been back to Blackpool since, lol. I advocate going straight to A & E when in such pain as the drugs they give you get the job done without having to be referred anywhere. Hope you fell better soon, xxx :)

Could be a trapped nerve triggering ciatica? Try some deep heat cream massaged in, some hot wheat bags or similar to ease the pain a bit and then get to the Drs in the morning for a check up, back pain is a torture we can all do without as it really drags you down.

Hi Julie - So sorry you are in such pain - I can really empathise with you as this is a real problem for me, although a different type of pain to what you are enduring.

From what everyone says, best to go and get some proffessional help as you`re back is to precious to hope it will go away.

Hope and pray you get it sorted soon hun x

Love Kat x

Like everyone else, I am not qualified to advise you, but...
It sounds as though something is causing pressure on the nerves in your spinal column, hence the pains in other parts of your body (feet, hips, etc.) This could be a swelling in the tissue between the vertabrae and can be caused by things like exercise, work, etc. If you have had a boney injury ruled out, then I would mention this to your doc and ask if he could check it out. If you still get no joy, I would attend either A & E or an out of hours drop in clinic/ urgent care centre. This way, you're not only getting the opinion of a different G.P., but they are more likely to listen to ALL symptoms as they don't already know you.
Best of luck and I hope you're feeling better soon. x
