Hi.

I suppose I'm going for revision surgery the first week in October.

I say suppose as I had a gastric band in France in 2004 and it was best thing I ever I lost over 11 stone but then I made mistake of having it removed as I thought i could do it myself.

I regained most of my weight then in 2010 about 6-8 months after having band removed I went for a wrap in Prague . ( biggest waist of money ever) I didn't loose a lb in fact I gained more weight then in 2012 I went to Belgium and had another band. This was going great until I got a vomiting bug and my local hospital removed it when it didn't need to be removed.

So here I am today. 23stone. Heaviest ever! And I am going for the ultimate weight loss tool ( well it is to me) I am having a gastric bypass in France in October. In nervous as it's my 4th operation so it can't be good for my body but at same time I can't go on like this I have no life. I have pains everywhere my knees can just about carry me.

I can't afford to have it done here in Ireland and there is no option to have it done public so this is my only option.

Has anyone been to le harve in France and had a bypass.

I still have a part wrap (it was never done properly) so the revision is from a wrap to bypass.

I can understand you going abroad to have your surgery, I cannot afford to have surgery in England so looking at my options elsewhere.

I dont think I would qualify for NHS as my bmi is 37, but I already have type 2 diabetes and high blood pressure, also the jumping through hoops for NHS has put me off going that route.

let us know how you got on and what you thought of company/hospital you used.

all the best.

Hello Polly
wow you had had a lot done shame it has not always worked out for you.
very good luck with your up coming bypass
cant help with your other questions but im sure someone on here will swing by very soon

Good luck for you! Hope they can do the bypass for you and you will loose weight and never gain it back! You really have been through too much already. It does have to have an end somewhere and i hope it will be this surgery! Best of luck and keep us updated :)

I'm in le havre for my mini gastric bypass 15th October.im 25 stone BMi 43.its time for me to do something about it.did some research this sounds like the right one for me.sad that you had to go through all you have, especially when you hit the target the first time,ah we'll you live & learn.this time you've got experience on your side.i suffer with depression, got no motivation so even when I get a good wave I ride it diet & exercise successfully but get a bout of black dog syndrome & get bedridden & balloon with the inactivity.at least after my op I'll be bedridden but my food intake will be restricted which will give me a chance till the next wave.my under active thyroid is such a curse to my weight & depression.le harve sounds like a good choice,is it a full or mini bypass that you are having.everyone that I read just puts bypass, but there is a difference?

I'm not sure if it's a mini or normal one I think they are just going to have a look when they get in there cos the wrap is still there.

Is it dr bb that's doing your operation?

In 23 stone and have a bmi if 46 I think :( it's shocking to be this big again so soon

I can remember how being slimmer feels. If you know what I mean it didn't just creap on I just exploded.

Wanted to say good luck to you, I self funded but had my op in the UK xx

Not long to go, I was so excited before my op, lets hope this is your final one now and this works for you xx
