Here all the time.....
I've not seen a 'database' of hospitals with A&E departments that have a Bariatric department in the hospital. I had an emergency with my band earlier this year when I was away in Birmingham, but my disaster was averted as I had a huber needle, a husband with a steady hand to de-fill me and a phone call to my surgeon for some HELP. But if I hadn't had those what would I have done.
We travel the UK on trips and it would be great to know if a problem arose which hospital to head for as one thing I have learnt this year from a disastrous experience in a BMI hospital near Brands Hatch is go somewhere where they understand bariatrics as the staff's ignorance (and prejudice) to bariatrics can make a supreme difference in your care. But as robina has pointed out, not guaranteed!
So...... Hospitals with Bariatrics associated with them:
Aberdeen - Aberdeen Royal Infirmary
Birmingham - Heartlands
Chester - The Countess of Chester
Chichester - St Richards
Derby - The Royal Derby
Dudley - Russell Hall
Edinburgh - Royal Infirmary
Gloucester - Gloucester Royal
London, Tooting - St George's
London - Chelsea & Westminster
London - The Clementine Churchill
London - University College Hospital
London - St. Mary's Hospital
London - The Whittington Hospital
London - Homerton Hospital
London - Imperial College Hospital
Luton - Luton & Dunstable
Manchester - Salford Royal
Middlesbrough - James Cook University Hospital
Portsmouth - Queen Alexander
Sheffield - Northern General
Stoke on Trent - University Hospital of North Staffordshire
Swansea - Morriston
Tyne & Wear - Sunderland Royal
Walsall - Walsall Manor
Where in the UK are they?
