The area where you make changes is at the top left "User CP". If you click there you get options to Edit your Avatar / profile pic and signature box etc.
However, you gain forum privileges the more you post and take part.
I think you need to have 50 posts before you can (1) upload a photo to your own profile, and (2) have more signature space, (3) also look at the profiles and photo albums/galleries of other members.

Charts available from www.tickerfactory.com but you won't have enough sig space as a newbie until you reach 50 posts.
When I started all I was able to add in the Signature area was basic "Referred Jan 2011, surgeon sept 2011, review Jan 2012".
After a few weeks the signature space (ie how many photos / charts / words you can put in there) gets bigger once you have posted more.
