how long on waiting list ?

hi everyone hope ya all ok was just wondering has anyone had there op done at sunderland ? and do there know how long it takes to get ya op done there would realy like to know the sort time scale im looking at would realy love some advice from anyone thanks x

:welcome: I've just gone on the waiting list and was told it would take 3-6 months which means it will have taken just over a year since the seminar. Best of luck x

In our area (Oldham PCT) we have to wait 18-24months!

Its a long time to wait, but it gets you ready and by the time it comes you are sure you want to go ahead cos theres lots of time to research it all and weigh up the pros and cons.

Use the time well, try and stay positive, jump through every hoop they throw your way and it will come quicker than you think.

hi I am at Sunderland had my seminar Jan 11 and still waiting to see surgeon not seeing him until 28 may so not on list yet

where are you at in the process? have you had your seminar or nurse appointment yet?

my op took forever to come around but that doesn't mean it will for you!

nurse and WL target set Feb 10
consultant / nurse appointment Feb 11 (after 6 cancellations) put on list for endoscopy then too (must point out that you will have had to have met your WL target set before they will send you for endoscopy :wave_cry
endoscopy July 11 (told 4-6 months for surgery )
Gastric Bypass 23rd nov 11

now 4.5 weeks post op and feel amazing! weight loss very slow which is a little disheartening but at least it's coming off! :sigh:

I waited 20 mths with 1 cancelled apt in there so waited about 2 mths for a new 1 but then I was offered a date early oct then cancelled on me cause they hadnt realised I needed a hernia repair and they r midweek apts first apt I was given was a wkend. not sure y it makes a difference lol. xx

i'm not in your area and they all seem quite different, but i had a referral from my gp in december 2010, appt. with Mr. Khan in Jan 2011, appt with psychiatrist in may and funding approved, pre-op 22nd december and surgery date 5th january. good luck on your journey, it will fly by! x

would like to thank everyone for there replies means a lot i went the seminar on 14th dec been the doctors for the blood tests they asked for i recieved a letter from my doctors saying they wanted to repeat them in 4 weeks time so im now worried something is wrong not been able to phone them with it been christmas i also recieved a letter saying i should get an appointment april 2012 to see surgeon n dietician but like i say these blood test got me worried anyone have any ideas what it could be ? x

I had my seminar September 2010 had blood tests with gp Oct 2010 - seen the dietician Jan 2010 weight loss target set appointment with surgeon June 2010 Endoscopy 2nd Sept 2011 phone call received with date for op 10th Jan 2012 it flys by quicker than you think. good luck with your journey not sure what the problem is with blood tests they may have been inconclusive xx

hi jane your question took the words out of my mouth lol i havent been to get bloods taken yet going to make an appointment tommorow though so thanks for reminding me i did have bloods taken a while bk fasting bloods for something else and had to have it repeated as i didnt have enough white cells but it was because id had a cold and wasent feeling 100% i had mine taken few weeks later and all was fine so try not to worry to much xx
