How many stretches??

Has anyone had more than 2 stretches after a bypass? I've been told I probably need a second pouch stretch after being previously told that it was highly unlikely I'd need a second one. It got me thinking if I've needed 2 stretches, what's to stop me needing further stretches?

I was just wondering if there are any other bypassers out there who've had more than two stretches?

Why do you need stretches? hope you don't mind me askin, nobody on my team has even mentioned stretches even in passing, so i'm guessing it's something they do if you have a problem

Me neither, feeling slightly concerned now. I have never heard anything about it????

Ladies, you will only need a stretch if you are having probs like Jaxx, so dont worry.

Jaxx, I read on an american forum of a lady that had several stretches as she kept getting strictures (which are a kind of blockage) and she was in pain when she tried to eat solids. So I think in theory they could do as many as necessary, but if you continued having probs they would probably want to do other investigations. Hope that helps. x

Jaxx i sincerely hope if you have to have another stretch that it's your last one :)

Good luck xx

Sorry to hear that you're having trouble Jaxx. What exactly is a stretch though and why would you need it? And what to they do to stretch it? Hope you don't mind me asking when you obviously just need some help.

Basically I have what's called a stenosis which is a restriction at the entrance to my pouch due to scar tissue. To stretch it they have to use an endoscope with a balloon on the end of it. When they get it in position, they inflate the balloon to gently stretch the scar tissue. The can't stretch it too far as it will split the tissue and cause bleeding. I've had one stretch so far and I'm having another one on Friday as I'm still struggling to get anything more solid than blended soup down 9 weeks after surgery. If I try anything more solid than that I get severe pain in my stomach and I usually end up vomiting as well.

Apparently it's not that common but it does happen.

Thanks Jaxx that was interesting to know. I hope the 2nd stretch works for you.
