Hi everyone,
My sister has just been refused funding for WLS and I'm urging her to appeal as the criteria has changed whilst she was on a weight management scheme from a BMI of 40 to 45. She has several co-morbidities and was referred to the weight management clinic as part of the WLS process and she has dropped a couple of BMI points.
How do you appeal a negative decision? I was incredibly lucky and got my surgery with no fighting. My sister has been in tears all day and has just gone and eaten everything that she's been trying to avoid, which isn't good especially as she's diabetic. She's worked so hard and even her GP was incredulous at the letter she received. I've told her to contact PALS but I'm not sure of the appeal process. How do I help her with this? She's obviously devastated.
