How to shift the last few pounds

I am struck weight wise my weight has been hovering between 12.02 and 11.13 but I went to see the plastics dr and he was happy to go ahead and do the ops but my pct say I have to have a bmi of 25 so ive got 10lbs to loose but its proving quite difficult as no matter what I do nothing seems to work helppppppp

The easiest thing to say is eat less and exercise more. But it's never that simple. Try 'other' types of exercise and work harder at the ones you are doing. It's very hard I know, but good luck :)

Hi Linda, wow plastics already, it seems like only 5 minutes ago you were having your op. I am still amazed at how much weight you have lost. You look fantastic. I can not wait untill i get my plastics as this lose skin is causing all kinds of problems for me. As for shifting the las few pounds have you ever thought of doing the 5 day pouch test? It i sbasicaly back to basics like the first few weeks after the op, fluids and gradualy build up to solids as apparently it reasses your pouch and you lose some stubborn weight. There is a thread on here somewhere about it and also there is a bit about it on the general internet. Hope this helps hun xxx

Thanks guys was thinking about the 5 day pouch test or even the camebridge diet :)

Lisa it was only 6 months ago I had my op even the ps was shocked when I said it was this year but as I'm nearly at goal weight he said he would be happy to operate so am I to argue :)

Your doing really well Lisa and it won't be long before your asking for your plastics to be done either :)

I was going to say cambridge diet. Usually you can lose 4-10lb in the first week, although most of its water. I lost 4 stone on it, and my sister has lost 5. Shes gone from 14 stone and now is 9 stone 10. She went back on it last week, 1st week lost was 4 pounds, although in week 2 shes stayed the same. Obviously harder as you've both got less weight to lose now, but worth considering x

I have already spoken to my GP and he said as soon as my BMI is 25 he will refer me to plastics, I have a way to go yet though another 5 stone to lose so maybe next year fingers crossed xxxx

Hi MadStaffy,

I'm with Mixman on this ... may be you need to try some different types of exercise ... high fat burning ones and possibly stick to a high protein diet? I think the BMI thing can be a little ridiculous, but I guess GP's have to have something to refer to. It's evident to me you wouldn't need to lose 10Ibs .. you look freaking amazing right now.

I'm also 10lbs from goal and it doesnt't want to shift, having said that i'm not too worried as i've exceeded my expectations as far as size goes. I too can't believe you are at plastics stage so quickly thats an amazing acheivement a very big well done. Watch the 5 day pouch test my understanding is that it shouldn't be used for weight loss more a check back on the type of food you are eating. Hopefully it won't be long until the 10lbs go and you get to 25 bmi good luck xx

Linda, I dont think you should resort to any drastic measures at this stage hun, you are only 5/6 months post op.

As Allie said above, 5 day pouch test is not for weight loss but for finding restriction when you have lost it. I would also give Cambridge a wide berth at this stage if I were you. I totally blame CD for screwing up my metabolism and I know of others that feel the same.

At 6 months post op, this could just be a stall hun. I'd be surprised if you are done losing just yet. I wouldnt worry. If you are already on his list for the first op, then by the time you get on the list for the ops that are BMI dependent I think you will probably already be at the required weight.

I don't think the boobs is bmi dependent but the tummy tuck is and my understanding is that the recovery time from the boobs op is quite long and he wants to do the tt next which means I've got to loose 10lbs by Christmas which don't seem hard if you say it quick :) but I'm really stressing over it I really don't want anything to get in my way as I'm sure the bloody pct will change things again

See mine told me that boobs was BMI dependent, and going to do my tummy first as I cant go on the list for boobs until BMI 25, which it will hopefully be after my TT. I wish I'd been referred to Walsall instead of QE....

Christmas is only 10 weeks away (sorry!) As he is going to do your labiaplasty op first, I cant imagine you would have had a date for your 2nd op as soon as that.

Can totally understand your frustration though at wanting to make sure you get there asap. Just dont want to see you resorting to drastic measures or crash diets. The bypass is meant to stop all of that.

The words of wisdom as always sam :). He never mentioned anything about my boobs being bmi dependent but I don't no I can't believe we are all told such different things even though he said he would put me on the list December when I have the labiaplasty but it will be around 3 months after for the op but my bmi has to be 25 before I can go on the list. If the hospital hadn't lost my referal I would of made if through on the bmi 27 arghhhhhhhhhh

I agree with Sam, stay clear away from Cambridge Diet; it tastes disgusting and is a nasty nasty diet that messes up metabolism.

Mine said qualifying BMI was 27 for tum. My consultation was 4th Oct, so I suppose its feasible that he might not have been informed about new criteria, but these things dont tend to happen overnight. Totally agree with you about being told different things. Its a nightmare. If I get to May and have maintained then he turns round and says I need to lose more to get to BMI 25 I'll be furious.

Didnt realise you had been told you would get the labiaplasty as soon as December. Thats great.

If yours didnt say boobs were BMI dependent then couldnt he do those next?
