 Well fellow members, as some of you know, My monthlys seem to have gone awol since my surgery in July, not that I miss them at all, But to cut a long story short I went to see my G.P last night and although I feel ok in myself I just wanted some reassurance on my hormone levels as My weight has become pretty slow at the moment. He said if I can do without the HRT replacements then dont have them as you gain weight with them all:eek: OMG I was horrified. But while I was there I explained since my op I get up in the morning anytime between 3am-7am so he precribed Amitriptyline:confused: yes I slept in until 7.30 but omg I feel like a dead D*ck I am not taking them again eva!! so all you ladies out there check these hrt patches/tablets out before hand and try to ride the storm if you can I am. Gail.x

unfortunatly like with all medication some of the side effects are worse that the origanal complaint. amatriptalym has to build up in yr body over time to feel the true benifits as it works on the seratonin levels.
good luck riding the storm as long as you have lots of energy i wouldnt worry about waking early.
speak soon

Gail as you know I was forced into an ealry menopause when I was 37 due to a total hysterectomy, and have been on hrt gel since. It can slow weight loss down but the other side effects of not taking it, if you are truly menopausal can be much worse:(My hormones were that bad that my life wasn't worth living:(
If you can do without HRT that's great, but some peeps can't;)
My weight loss so far has been ok so i'm sticking to it, as we have osteoporosis in the family, and I don't want that, or to be a hormonal wreck:D:D

Hi Gail

I know nothing about HRT as Im not quite there yet (wish I was sometimes but my plumbing is another story!). However, if you cut down on your caffeine intake or lose it completely, it might help your sleep pattern - I noticed that you said you drank loads of tea - try the decaf tea!

Hi Gail

I had to take HRT for a year along with hormone injections to put my body into a menapausal state for 12 months. This was to try and stop my endometriosis - needless to say nothing changed except my weight. In that year I put on 5 of the 6 1/2 stone extra I was carrying pre op!

I was also prescribed amytryptoline but for pain management. My first night of taking them I didnt wake up until midday! I dont take them anymore but they always made me feel like I'd had a few the night before!!!

I agree totaly if you can do without try and do so. Have you tried evening primrose oil, its good for pre and post menapausal symptoms.
