Hurumph!

cazbandy

Bring on the Trumpets!
Right I don't really want to have to do this but if I don't let it out I will explode.

I have not lost weight for at least 6 months, I have had a fill in that time (would have been my 4th) and have good restriction. I am just stuck.

I walk everyday for 45 minutes, go swimming and do 25 lengths once a week and overall try to be as active as possible.

I will give you what I ate today as this is a typical day...

Breakfast - Porridge made with skimmed milk and a little honey
Lunch - 1 chicken thigh, 1 mini babybel light, salad
Dinner - 1 home made sausage, small jacket spud, lolo cheese and hoops

I have drunk 2 litres of water and 4 cups of tea.

I have lost all volume in my boobs and this is beginning to upset me as they look and feel horrid, my tummy apron is heavy and cumbersome and getting me down too.

My port sometimes still hurts, I get referred pain in shoulder from a nerve being trapped near my diaphragm which apparently is quite common to banded patients and I really wish I could make this work but I am loosing heart.:wave_cry:

I would like to convert to a sleeve but not sure that cold happen...

I am going to have a long honest chat on 18th November with surgeon.

I would like to convert to a sleeve but not sure that cold happen...

Yes it could.
It is completely possible to have an operation to have the band removed and be converted to a sleeve. It just depends on whether your provider does it, unless you are willing to pay private?

Im so sorry to hear that you are so down :hug99:and dont ever be sorry for venting, its what we are for after all! :)

Im sorry i dont have any advice on the other stuff as i am newly post op and am a sleever.
Do what you feel is best hun, follow your instinct :) xxxxx

caz, you dont seem to actually eat that much, could that be the problem, i have just started to lose again, after a short stall, because i hardly eat anything, and although im still not eating much, its more than i was eating, it might be worth trying to eat a bit more, of the right stuff obviously, which in turn might just kick start it, you have nothing to lose by trying it do you? i hope whatever you do, you start losing again soon hun, hugsxx

Caz it would be great to see your statistics as to see how you are doing on that scale, it sounds like you are doing good food wise and exercise wise so I am really unsure as to what to advise, unless you may be where your body wants you to be?? unless knowing what you weigh I cant say that with any amount of certainty...

But HUGS sent your way

Hi Caz,

You seem to be doing everything by the book...

How much weight have you lost and what was your start weight?

Are you losing inches and what size were you and are you now?

I am all for 'frank' discussions with Consultants and really getting to the bottom of situations and I do feel this is the best way forward.

You are looking good on your photo, but it's how you feel and you know best you are living with it.

Don't feel deflated and keep very positive, you always are and hoping that you can resolve these issues as soon as possible...

Sending a loving hug to you Caz xxx

As above, you seem to be doing everything. The only thing I can suggest is try walking for longer or swimming say twice a week instead of once. Our bodies get used to things very easy and we often have to change what we do to kickstart the losses again!

You have had fab advice already and I am stuck too so I just wanted to wish you all the best and I hope that having it out with your team will help you move forward again, whether with the band or sleeve, I wish you success xxx I would be really interested in what your team say with regard to why you are stuck, as like everyone says, doing all the right things and not being rewarded is awful for you. I hope they can get you back to losing. You are looking so amazing and there is a huge significant change in you.
Lots of love and fingers crossed for you

Caz im going to be completley honest with my thoughts on this idea, if your weight is stuck for what ever reason with a band, i really cant see a sleeve making much difference as its still just a restrictive proceedure and acts very similar to banding, so would it be worth going through such a major op to possibly be stuck in the same situation ? wouldnt a bypass be a better option as the odds of that working long term will be better, have a word with your team and think very carefully about what you want, i had to as they wanted me to have a sleeve but id prefere a bypass, good luck Caz with whatever happens xxx

Hi Caz

Sorry to hear your weight has stopped coming off. I think Liz is right swapping one restrictive procedure for another may not be the answer but it wouldnt hurt to discuss it with the team.

Im no expert on calories in meat but what you are eating doesnt really seem much. Do you know how many you are having a day? Neen worked out my calorie allowance to lose 2lbs a week based on my acitvity and Im going to stick to that now. Plus nothing more than 5% fat. Im guessing a chicken thigh is fattier than a breast but I remember you saying you struggle with breast.

Ive got a recommended diet sheet from my provider I could send you if you think it may help - Im not trying to teach you to suck eggs though lol x

Hi everyone,

Thank you for all you kind words and advice.

I am currently following my providers dietary guidelines. I use skinless thighs as the meat is lovely and also I get a smaller portion than the breast. This was advice from my surgeon, so I guess it must be ok.

Today I have had:-

2 small slices of bacon on top of a 2 egg omlette for breakfast
1 x tin of pea and ham soup (with extra ham) and 1 slice wholemeal toast

Tonight will be having meatballs, home made in homemade sauce, with a sprinkle of cheese.

I have also had a handful of nuts.

I have been out for an hours walk and run up and down my stairs 10 times...

Feeling a bit more positive today, its also that time of the month so always feel like a massive bloated blob.

I have to focus on the positives:-

I have gone down 5 dress sizes
I am no longer technically diabetic
My husbands arms reach round me now
I can do more exercise
I have not gained any weight in that 6 months
I have control over my food

Caz i can't offer you any advice, i have no idea if you are eating enough but it doesn't seem much, but i'm sure your team and the other banders know better than me :)

Just wanted to say your picture looks fantastic and you are obviously a very glass half full kinda person from your last post...

Good luck with whatever decision you come too xx

Caz I know you may be a bit fed up but hormones are making you see the negatives I think. Your success is amazing and you are extremely supportive to everyone on here. I posted last week about how different you look so think long and hard about your decision. I think it may not be plain sailing with other ops too - some posts on here lately havent been great and you are very healthy which is also important.
Keep your chin up - you are a true inspiration

Caz I sympathise with the TOTM thing, It seems like I can trundle along doing really well and being really good for most of the time but my period comes round and throws me off completely. Then it can sometimes be a whole week after of stupid eating but when I get back into sensible choices I have already put on what I lost.
I have been losing and regaining the same 6lbs since March!
Emotional eating is a huge hurdle and anything I can do to help I will certainly be happy to try x
You have done wonderfully! Last time I went to an appointment I was told I was doing better than they expected..I was quite shocked as being two years out and 6 stone left to lose , I certainly did not feel like I was...but they said they were expecting me to lose it in about 4 years..(humph!!! we'll see about that!)
So you know, never dismiss what you HAVE done and please know we ALL are wishing you success...we all want the same outcome , so let us support you too x
