Any tips? Mine seems to be at a bit of a standstill at the moment.

Thanks Sam.

I don't have any tips I'm afraid.

I'm quite an active person, plus I'm eating very little at the minute - my new tummy's not a great fan of food, lol!!!

Pookie, I hope you don't mind me speaking up but what you said really concerns me. You can tell me to take my advice elsewhere, I promise I won't be offended. However I really felt I had to say something about when you said you hardly eat as you feel ill and don't like food. You must continue to eat as you are risking malnutrition which is VERY dangerous early days after a bypass. Your big loss of 8lbs *could* be lean muscle lost instead of fat which is what happens when you don't eat enough, your body drops muscle mass first before letting go of fat.

If you feel you just can't manage much in one sitting, try eating a few bites of food every couple hours, that way at no point is your body starving for fuel. It can be in the form of milky coffee, yogurts, protein shakes, whatever you can get down your neck. However just skipping eating is not a safe choice. Okay advice done, you can tell me to go now, lol.

Nic:)

Hello Nic.
Firstly, thankyou, I really do appreciate the fact that you took time out to reply to me. You are so lovely and caring.

Right, the food thing....I never thought I would find eating such a chore!! Before my surgery I adored cooking, experimenting with new recipes, food was such a passion of mine.

But since my surgery, I have just lost all interest. I'm rarely hungry, I feel nauseous alot of the time and really struggle to get food into me.

But, I am trying REALLY hard to eat, especially protein. I rarely eat carbs & try to eat protein as much as I can. I am so shocked by how much my tastes have changed and how I can't tolerate sweet stuff now.

I have got Mixman sending me some protein shake samples, then I will be ordering myself some, and doing my best to have some every day- I'll try very hard, I promise.

Over the past few days, I've been having soup with Complan in, which I'm finding much easier to get down, so that's something I will be having more of.

I am very concerned that I've lost 10lbs since last Saturday. I was so excited when I got on the scales, but thinking about it, it's really not healthy to lose that much weight in such a short space of time.

I promise I'll try harder Nic ;0)

Thanks again for your lovely message

xx

Chin up hun !

:wave_cry:Hi Emma
i'm 6 days post band op , i can't believe how well i feel , i thought i'd be in bad pain , but no , i'm glad to say, i shall return to swimming today ( Mr Super said it would be ok as my wounds were glued so are water tight ) i'v lost 7lb in a week and i can't say its been a struggle really, i'v made an effort and kept to the guidelines . I've read many posts and bypassers have lost a lot of weight in the first few months so i don't think it sounds excessive but then what do i know? , it is a concern that you don't feel well, but its still early days , keep your chin up .x
