Have you tried meat cooked in many different ways?

Did you try puréed meat or fish? Have you tried slow cooked meat or soft mince in gravy? Are you following the basic eating rules? Take a bite no bigger than a pencil top rubber, chew to liquid, stop as soon as you feel satisfied. You might only manage a couple of bites at first.

If you are doing all the above and still not managing to keep meat down, you need to speak to your provider as you might need a stretch.

In the meantime, make sure you make an even bigger effort with protein to help with healing and prevent muscle wastage.

I have found that although chicken hot & with gravy , ie moist is ok , cold & dry doesn't go down so easy . It's a case of trying different ways of eating them , good luck xx

I've tried mince salmon and chicken all differenet ways I can think of. I'll try the slower smaller bites see if that helps any. Thank you x

I was told to aim for 70-80grams xx

And remember its not just in meat. Protein is in eggs, dairy, some nuts, quorn, soya etc

you can add marvel to drinks to add protien too, you can buy protien shots and drinks too, good luck sweet :) xxx

i wouldn't worry hun....you're still at a very early stage and meat takes a while to master. i'm 10 months post op and still have to be very careful. It will come with time. try it on a weekly basis with a sauce to help it go down and u will see the difference. Best not to panic....i can still only eat 1/3 of a chicken breast on a good day x

Aww this is great guys, thanks for all
The tips. I was worried I was eating too much carbs and that I wouldn't lose any more :( x

You can use a site/app like myfitnesspal to work out how much fat/carb/protein you are taking in. Remember that 80g meat or fish doesn't mean 80g protein.

Hi

I am also 7 weeks, well 8 weeks on Tuesday and have just started normal foods and I have struggled with red meat as well, no matter how it's cooked or for how long if I am not careful up it comes, not much of a fish eater other than fish fingers, which I have not yet had post bypass, but other than a bit of very soft chicken I have almost gone veggy myself, and looking on the wls forums it's quite common.

I have tried pork and chicken done in my slow cooker so it falls apart. I am only 23 days post op and not struggled.

It's proper purée my pouch wouldn't keep down :(

Shows no pouch is made equal :)
