if the lapband needs replacing after 15 years

will the nhs do it automatically orrr do you have to go through the rigramole of applying for funding etc again?... cos what if your bmi is normal so they say no lets see how you go!! im just wondering how it works, and im curious to know

Kelly the 15 year thing is because thats how long they have been fitting bands. Its more like 17 -18 years now BUT because they only had 15 years history no one could forsee how long a band would last.

Technology has changed a lot in 15 years and while no one can be sure there is no reason why a band should last for many, many years.
 
I think I'll cross that bridge when I come to it :)
 
bands wear out just like anything else in life, most banders will need at least 1 change of band, the nhs re done mine no problems, the funding was there automatically for me x
Private patients usually have to pay again :( which is bad crack as they only guarantee the bands for 3 months usually x
