I was banded in feb this year and have had regular fills every 4 weeks or so. I have a small band that holds 10mls and it is now holding 6.5mls. I seem to be eating ok but finding it harder to eat breakfast within an hour of getting up, having to wait until around 10am before I am able to comfortably eat something such as ryvitas with Philly or a weatabix, some days I can eat anything and other days food is getting stuck and seem to have an hour of trying to bring it back up again...how exhausting!! Does anyone have sugesstions for good food to eat as I seem to now be going for the easy option of having crisps and chocolate as they go down easier but I dont really want to start with easy options....pls help!

I would chat to your provider and explore why you are feeling more restriction at some times than others. It could be water retention, hormones etc, or a genuine problem you need to sort through small defill? Just ideas. I would opt for going back to healthy mushy foods rather than chocs and crisps - I know that would be my road to ruination!! Hope you find some answers. Tracey xxx

I know I am pre-op, but I've just been reading the book that my provider has given me and it does explain in there that patients often find that their band is tighter in the early mornings and that this does ease off later in the morning (something to do with pressure and the way that we sleep)

it suggests that if the band is tight at that time to delay eating breakfast until slightly later, or to use a protein shake, a fruit smoothie, or fromage frais/milk if consuming liquids is easier at that time in the morning. It stuck out in my mind cos I thought OMG not more milk LOL

Im at work at the moment and the book is at home, so I cannot quote what else it said, but I know that part stuck out and that is what it suggested.

It is def tight in a morning which is why I have a protein shake for breakfast. Youre right in that by mid morning normal service is resumed...just needs a bit of a wakey wakey that's all, so work with it versus aggravate it. It's not a symptom of being too full x

Hello there

My band has always been tighter in the mornings..........Its par for the course for me . Try not to worry about that - if you find u cannot eat meals nor keep food or fluids down then contact your provider. Wishing you all the best - BD x
