Loving Being a Loser
I'm a bit worried now about this 5g of sugar everyone talks about i have been concentrating on low fat low cal whilst watching sugar. Can you guys please tell me where to find sugar content is it the carbohydrates of which are sugars or is it elsewhere, I notice some labels don't specify sugar only xx

Hi , I would read it same as you Allie, within the carbohydrates. But I'm not an expert x

hi it's indicated in the 'which of sugars' bit under carbs, hope this helps.

carbos

Hi I am looking at a can of rasins. And under carbohydrates it has 31 grams of carbs. Then sub headings are dietary fiber = 2 gram and sugars = 29 grams.
Since sugar is a sub heading of carbs and if you add the dietary fiber + sugars together it == 31 grams.
So looks like carbs are made up of sugars

Thank you so much guys having spent a life time ignoring every food label and paying the price this is just another change to get used to i'm sure i'll get the hang of it thanks for your replies x

I was the same Allie, but since I'm post op I check everyting. You'll be amazed at the anmount of hidden sugar in things. With packet and jar sauces you are much better making your own as I have only been able to find 1 indian curry sauce that falls below the 5g/100g. Even the low cal "good fr you" ones.

Thanks again Terri, it's funny you should say that but OH and i went weekly food shop today- well at least for him and my daughter, and out of interest i started to look at a lot of labels in prepartion for my puree stage i really struggled to find anything at 5g/100g or under and as you say that was the low cal/diet options. I really am going to have to look a lot harder for ideas x
