Hello,
A while ago I went to see my Dr about having a band fitted, she said she would do all she could to help me. My first form to the PCT was sent back, they said the forms have changed and to be completed on the new ones. Submitted again and forgot about it. My Dr called me this week to say that the funding had been approved, no appeals nothing, we both could not believe that this had gone through ( I have no real health issues, just BIG). I had a letter today from the hospital asking me to make an appointment which I have on 16th March.
I have not built my hopes up as with my luck I think it is not real and happening to me and they may say it was a mistake. Please could someone advise me what will happen next and how long I may have to wait, I work in a school and hope to have this done at the begining of the Summer hols - or am I hoping for too much. I am in the Dorset area, so if anyone else has had it done here I would love to hear from you.
Sorry to go on but I have so much going around in my head!!
Thanks
Nicky

Hello and welcome,

If you have your funding then you are virtually guaranteed to get your surgery - unless you have other health issues that are not suited to bypass surgery, or unless you are unable to abide by any pre-op diet that your hospital will insist on. So Congratulations.

I am not from your area so cannot offer any advice. Do you know which hospital you have been referred to?

I can't offer any advice on your aread but just wanted to welcome you to the best weight loss site i know off.. Good luck with your surgery, hope its not so long for you xx

Congratulations on getting your funding.... My advice would be to read as much as you can on this forum - you'll find some great information and will be able to go to your appointment well informed :)

Hi and welcome, as kat said read as much as you can all the answers to any weird and wonderful questions will be here somewhere, the ban usually is a pre op to tell you what they are going to do then a chat with the dietician and hey presto a date for the op, well that was my band experience.
Hope this helps

Thank you for your kind messages. My appt is at Bournemouth Hospital. I shall make a list of questions to ask him when I go.

Welcome to WLS and congrats on getting your funding, that's half the battle over! :D

Each hospital seems to have a different protocol in how they assess you and which specialists you need to see pre-op. I'm not sure I've seen anyone post about Bournemouth hospital but I'm sure there must be someone around who has been there.

One of our lovely posters, Cah-Ching recently drew up an extensive list of questions which she took with her to the initial consultation so might be useful for you to read it for ideas of what you want to ask when it's your turn. I'll see if I can find it for you.

Here you go, this is it :) http://www.wlsurgery.com/wlsurgery/125754-questions-surgeon-during-consultation.html

Well done on getting your funding so easily - you're half way there! Good luck xx

Great news having funding through thats the hardest battle. All Hospitals tend to work differently but mine was supposed to be 2-3 mths wait for op date while funding came through, but my funding was already through before my first ever app and then I got lost in the system, finance dept having my funding but surgeons not aware so not putting me on their list. moral of my story keep in contact with hospital to see what stage you are at so you dont get left behind too. x
