I'm starving!

I am really surprised to feel as hungry as I do as I am only two days out. It is definitely not head hunger as my stomach is constantly rumbling.

Nothing I am eating seems to stop the hunger so far. I am being very careful about not eating too much as I am still working out what restriction feels like etc. I have been having soups, smoothies, yogurt and jelly.

My diet sheets recommend having mashed potato and gravy so I am going to try that tonight to see if that might stop the hunger.

I am experiencing tightness which is when I stop eating but it's not helping the hunger if you see what I mean!

Any suggestions anyone?

Hi

How much liquids are you having and what sort of soups, really blitzed up chunky ones might help.

Maz

Yes definately try chunky soups that have been blitzed. I bought a little hand blender and did this with lots of soups, even made my own too and because the consistency was thicker they felt more filling. Make sure you're drinking loads too, I seemed to be sipping something constantly for the first week or two.

porridge will fill ya pouch :) they made me eat that shiyte twice b4 i was even allowed off ward urrgghhh :mad:LOL its like pollyfiller milky tho coz it swells x

hey hun hope your doing OK i really dont understand this as well how can we still feel so hungry?
i really hope it gets better for you i find drinking some milk helps at times..all the best hun..xx

Hi there, I have tried the sugar free jellies just for flavour and chomped them to mush, I am still getting belly rumbles and head hunger, good idea about the blitzing soups hadnt thought of that, how long you on post op liquid diet? I was banded at heartlands and my booklet tells me i cant start sloppies for a month...... I am so looking forward to just trying something different racked off with just liquids now....
Hope you feel better soon and at least quieten the rumbles down x

I was also told no mush for 4wks , so i have kept to liquids , but thick soups blended(big soup), paw ridge ( kids kind no lumps) rusks with plenty of milk and slim fast. I've not been hungry but i do seem to be drinking something all day long. Hope you find something that fills you soon.x

I was craving a curry sooooooo bad the other day so I got this wonderful soup from waitrose - can't remember the name of it - but it is a chicken soup made with coconutmilk, peppers and curry spices. I blended it to oblivion and it was gorgeous! It really hit the spot, could only manage a little bit of it but it just seemed to do the trick.
I also have a tiny ramekin with some cottage cheese in if I am feeling particularly peckish.
What has worked for me, my 4 year old has his own cutley and I have swiped a nice knife, fork and spoon for my own use. Using these smaller pieces of cutlery really helps me not have huge mouthfull's!
I'd recommend this!

I realise I am very lucky as I only have to do liquids and purees for a week. Next week I am allowed to move on to omelettes, mashed jacket potatoes and mashed casseroles - can't wait!

I made some cauliflower cheese and blitzed it right down to a puree and that has really hit the spot. It was delicious!

Thanks for the other advice everyone - jelly here I come! :D

Ooh that soup sounds nice :p Hadn't thought about cottage cheese either - good idea.

Hope you are getting on ok with your band so far x

I am! I am ready for some restriction though but that's just me being impatient!
Already I know that this could be the best decision I ever made and I can't wait to start my happy future.... I feel like I've wasted most of my 20's and only have 15 months left of them so best get my ass in gear!
How you feeling LBD?

Hi
i feel like i need some restriction too, i spoke to Anne today as i thought i'd done some damage i had a real pain in the middle scar after bending to pick up the cat !,
anyway she said that al should be ok as its perfectly normal , anyone else had this sort of pain ?, its like something sticking in me and very sharp when i move /sit /turn, i expected some pain but up to yet i hadn't had any really.Good idea to use a small spoon , if you can remember the name of the soup i'd give it a go i love anything spicy.
